Q3Map 2.3.36

Win32 (x86) - Linux (x86) - Darwin/Mac OS X (PPC) - Readme

2.3.36 (2003-01-15)

- Plane hashing re-enabled (I suck)
- Plane hashing optimized (faster parsing of larger maps)
- Plane finding accuracy code enabled
- New ASE clipping code
+ With above should be 10-50% faster
+ Should generate 33% fewer planes
+ Generates mostly-axial 5-sided polyhedra instead of pyramids,
    for tighter 2-sided clipping
- New -light args:
+ -scale N -- scales all lightsources (area, radiosity, point, sky)
  + -sky[scale] N -- scales sky lights (q3map_skylight, q3map_sunlight)
- Changed fur code to scale fur offset based on original vertex alpha

Sorry about the quick release–2.3.35 had a huge bug in it (the plane stuff) and it needed to be addressed ASAP. Got in some other nifty things as well, if ASE models are your bag.

Can the new release just be slotted into Radiant? Frankly, I can’t be bothered messing about with the compile settings; would be easier if I can just drop the exe in the right place.

Yes, just replace the q3map2.exe in your GtkRadiant directory with the exe in the q3map2 zip file.

Make a backup of your existing q3map2.exe just in case the most recent version starts doing stuff you don’t like.

.36: 2 questions.

-sky [scale] N

what’s the [scale] part, and what’s q3map_skylight and q3map_sunlight?
use them in place of q3map_surfacelight and q3map_sun for utilization of the -sky variable switch, to segregate them from -areascale?

(ydnar) #5

-sky N
-skyscale N

Scales sky lights (suns and q3map_skylight lights) by N. Does not affect area lights on sky shaders. For that use -area[scale].

gotchya. Got confused at the q3map_sunlight part in the readme

looks like q3map_skylight is nothing more then a shorthand sun group?
