Q3font not working?

(AlphaRed12) #1

Hi,
I have been doing some tedious menu editing work for EF and now I want to change the font. So I got the q3font 1.52 and I have my truetype font ready. Now I can’t figure out how to use the damn q3font.exe!! I have no idea how it works or if its even working. Everytime I start it up it comes up with a cmd window then immediately closes down without me being able to see a single word. I then try grabbing the .ttf and then putting it over the .exe but still the same htign happens and no font files are created or anythign for that matter. I really need your help please. Thanks in advance.

Did you download the version with the README? (If not, see Father’s post in the Tools & Things thread.) The readme.txt included in the .zip file tells you how to use the program.

For one, it is a console program and needs some extra parameters. That’s why it immediately closes - it opens in a console, prints an error to it at which point the console is closed by windows.
Run q3font in a Command Prompt and you’ll see it does work.

If you need any more guidance concerning DOS commands, simply shout.

I’m no idiot, I know what DOS is. I’ve lived long enough to know what it means and what it does.
Thanks Kamikazee for your help, it seems that in my download it had no readme. So I got the one and now it has a readme.

Its ok. I was a little frustrated especially after all that menu scripting work. I’m also used to 3D modeling so I don’t often come in contact with programs that need DOS to run it instead of me just clicking the .exe. I guess not everything is as easy as you want it to be :D.
