I’ve been working on my first ET map for the last week, and so far I’ve just been using _minlight and models for my lighting needs… looks great. However, I’ve reached a section where I can’t really do that…
In Q3 I could give a point light a radius of 512 and a light value of 15 and recive a nice soft light that covered a good area… lights bleed together. However, I can’t seem to achieve the same in ET. Regardless of radius, it has no affect. The lighting scales are different I’ve noticed in ET, needing things to be at least 100 or higher. Experimenting with fade didn’t seem to achieve any desired affect. After playing with q3map2’s lighting abilties I still haven’t been able to find a nice soft and smooth light. Tried adding light to the model shader but it also was too intense. Does anyone have any suggestions? Just seems I was either spoiled in Q3 or I’m missing some aspect of ET. The problem is that if I give the light a lower intensity it keeps the same brightness and makes a smaller radius… where I want to achieve a softer bleeding/fading of light. If the answer is on this forum I couldn’t find it… :???:
