Hey.

I am making my own loading screen, but afther doing the progressbar my text i wanted to show is almost unreadable.

I want to edit or remove the “loading” text, shown as here:

The ‘loading’ text is hard coded in the source code - there is no way to edit it easily w/o compiling.

cg_main.c calls of CG_LoadingString(X) … but maybe it’s done differently in Jaymod …

thats true irata … but i dont think he wanna change the “loadingscreen” itself - by hardcoding … if i understand his request (correctly) … he just wanna change the progressbar into a custom one (by replacing the tga)

… oh and jaymod sucks btw xD

progressbar.tga
and progressbar_back.tga for changing “loading”.

Try to play around with above 2 files and pack it in pk3. I am 100% sure it replaceable.

above 2 default files can be found in pak0.pk3 gfx/loading folder.

I am assuming you know how to about making custom pk3’s. If not feel free to ask and I will make tutorial for you.

Plz not another xxxMB of hud edits/skinpack/sound mods. I truly hate and loathe these mods. They only make it worse and i have to delete them or have a backup of a pure game with no shit.

jaymod is actually ok on the bugs, most reasons people dislike it for are bs

my 2 cents:

i can remember feeling like galileo galilei, imprisoned and condemed to stf* as i complained because i had this arty bug in jaymod 2.18. it was really weird and some had it, some others not. it was like the !shake command and the most annoying game experience i had so far in et and as i complained others thought i was an idiot as i described the arty shaking me, cause they thought that its normal that the arty shakes you “THIS” way. others freakin owned me and i looked really lame because of this. and when i played serious i still had a disadvantage.

but the most serious thing is that you can easily hack jaymod servers. as long as there is no lua support or a direct fix in the source code it will suck very very hard. as i only was a player i didnt know about these things (about 1 and a half year ago) i was a jaymod fan, but now i strictly refuse to play at jaymod servers…and the supporters doesnt really seem to be interested in making their mod more secure…

but i think we should make another topic for this, caus it is going way too offtopic :slight_smile:

Thnx for all the responses, seems like I can’t change it thought, I thought the loading TEXT was an image.

Btw: I already made the progressbar.tga but the loading text maked it hard to read what i typed in the progressbar, that’s why I wanted to remove the loading text :|.
Impossible with Jaymod, ( No open source :frowning: )

Just make the progressbar_back.tga with the same color as ‘loading’ string.

Yeah… I think it is just a tiny problem that you can’t read the text because then the text and the background are be the same color!!!:rolleyes:

I already said I am 100% sure you can change it since I have done it before for one another clan. Play with above 2 files i mentioned and you can change it.

Can you upload your pk3 somewhere and post the link so I can check whats wrong?

Agreed. But jaymod 2.1.8 was never officially released. What you are talking for is nightly build. Jaymod 2.1.7 doesn’t have that bug :stuck_out_tongue: Nightly builds are bound to have bugs.

But I do agree that Jaymod developers have abandon that mod and I asked repeatedly if they can make it open source but they always said no. I never understood why they were not making it open source since the game is free in itself and if they did make it opensource other developers can help. Even omni bot team asked for access and they didn’t give their source code so they are still using omni .66.
