Phoenix is the most useless medic. Rarely do noobs know what to do with him and even experienced players are often useless due to his crappy healing ability. All I ever see are lone wolf Phoenix players that are across the map while I’m dead at the objective. At least Vassili is a distraction. A good Vassili can dominate. A good phoenix? Not so much.

I’m not really going to talk shit about Phoenix users just to get Vassili in people’s squads. People are ultimately going to put in who they want.
I main Phoenix mostly, but Vassili is my #2. I will be taking out Phoenix to help him win, but I don’t think Phoenix is a bad merc, or users of him are bad. If anything, he’s one of the few genuinely balanced and straight-forward mercs in the game.
That being said, I do think a merc like Vassili with a high skill ceiling should definitely go forward. On top of the fact it seems to have more synergy with the storyline of Max Bashki (especially given that he was scoped and headshot).
Vassili’s gone through a lot of bullshit nerfs lately as well, and a lot of people talk shit about his users given that he is difficult to use (as he should be). I think he absolutely should go to the final.
My highest average xp/min merc is Phoenix with 1133xp/min. He is easily my best medic. Speak for yourself @Sploosh haha

He’s a good medic I have no idea why people bash him haha. He heals instantly and if you use the KE81 you can heal 20% stronger and 20% more often. People argue that card isn’t good for slaying but I completely disagree, the Hochfir is in a really good spot right now and the Selbstadt and Beckhill are excellent.
Basically if I’m healing others I try and stick with the main slayers who constantly push and you earn loads of health insurance XP as you can heal more than 1 person at a time. Most players run towards Phoenix like moths to a flame when they are low so it makes your job even easier. Plus for individual battles, just play smart - it isn’t hard at all. I usually engage in a battle and if I know I’m going to lose the battle I will quickly dart behind the wall and do the quickest healing pulse I possibly can and then duck back out to finish off the enemy. It always catches people off guard, it’s really good.
Honestly most of the people who say Phoenix is crap just don’t know how to play him and try to use him like other medics. It’s a totally different play style that when mastered is super strong.

I just meant that most Phoenix’s I see are useless, same with Vassili! 
But just like Vassili, there are some people who know how to actually play him. I personally don’t play him that much because I prefer Aura or Sawbonez, but when I do, I tend to stick with 1 or 2 players and move around the map as a unit. Maybe it’s just my luck that the majority of Phoenix players I see are lone-wolfing it.
Reminds me of those Auras who pick up/drop their health station constantly as they move around like a senior citizen with an oxygen tank!

Yeah don’t worry sploosh was just throwing some light humor your way Vassili can be great. I for one am a terrible sniper but when I do use him I usually top score by throwing my heartbeat every chance I get towards where the enemies are and +fwding with the PDP and cover people doing objective work. Nothing worse than the people who play Vassili with the MOA or Felix and sit back in safe positions doing nothing to help anyone or the objective work.
