There´s no such thing in ET as pushable entitys. There where some props in RTCW that had this ability. SO i dont think it can be done in an easy way.

Whar you could do is a script_mover that u have to “push”, sorta like the tank.

in oasis, at the 2nd axis spawn, upstairs and to the left in the room there is that chair that can be pushed all around the room… but how this is done, i’m not to shure.

This is a “Prop” entity, same as in RTCW. But RTCW had some more like barrels and a few crates that had the same possibilty, to be pushable. But i belive that SD has taken thoose out of the game for ET.
I know that Olaer has been testing all the RTCW entitys out in ET, not sure which ones of the props that still work!

(MadMaximus) #7

yeah, thats the props_chair… i just tested it out on ice and it won’t slide… but if their was a props_crate… that’d be cool… ability to push a crate to somewhere to get to a higher location as in half-life…

There will be a “playable” .pk3 with all RTCW entitys working in ET within say… 14 days…

There are between 10-20 items that can be spawned, pushed, destroyed, picked up etc. Some items can also be pushed by brushes.

I’m not sure how they move on ice though and I don’t have Radiant or ET installed where I’m at right now so I cant check it out…

There will be pusheable crates

this is what i need…
abbility to push model or brush (doesen’t matter what) without buttons… so i come to object push it, now that most important is to move on ice such as players moves. ehhh now i remembered… the main thing is possibility to push it everywhere where i want. so if i am at 45 degrees of object it will move on 45, if i am 43 degrees it will move on 43. and one more thing is if i push object and player goes in front of it then object must stop and player has to push it again…

i know i screw up again in writing but is this possible with that what you wrote???

Hi

I checked this.

Sliding on ice - no
Pushing objects in whatever direction - this can be done but you need additions to your Radiant setup.

hi, i’m playing with this idea of movable obj’s, can we not attach some stuff from the entity.def to make a model or obj (brushes) pushable, since this thread is old i dunno if this has been done yet or is possable??

Hi

  1. Read this thread http://www.splashdamage.com/index.php?name=pnPHPbb2&file=viewtopic&t=6243

  2. Download this file http://user.tninet.se/~fzo823r/rtcw_ent_in_et_beta1.pk3

  3. Look at Loffys map Darji2 (try eg at www.rtcwfiles.com) (there’s a pusheable crate in a “frame”…I think that might be the limit of it… )

  4. I did some testing w the crates a year ago and sometimes I got really unpredictable results. (eg with several crates close to each other or crates close to brush edges or pushing a crate over an edge on top on other crates etc etc…) I might very well be that Loffys solution is needed to produce a predictable beheaviour. …hmm…I guess u could ask Loffy himself, he might have researched it a bit.

well, that should get u going at least

The beta1 is also available as beta2 as u can see in the thread (1).

problems with pushable crates, its true they were in rtcw but never realy intended to be a major part of the game

i think you are using the wrong game for your map, ET was not made for this style of play, however half life was, so i wouldnt try make ET do things like half life as you will jsut fail

and since the props in ET are nowhere near as advanced as in hl2 they run into problems like the cliping around them is not 100% so they sometimes get stuck in walls, as if they get moved into a corner since you cant pull them only push they are stuck there

oh and yeah, since the information about them needs to be transmited to each player on a server it slows down the conection and adds to the number of game entites on your map, 2 or 3 props no problem, if you wanted to make somethinbg like hl2 with say 500 props your gona have problems
