Purple Tint

(Thundermuffin) #1

I have this horrible purple tint where ever colors are suppose to be black; I’ve talked to a few other people and no one else has had this problem (they’re even using the same config as me in some cases) and searching the forum for “purple” only gives me one other hit and they were on the 360 if I recall.

I took screenshots of it on 2 different maps on 2 different days (so there were patches in between days) and with and without my config to show what I’m talking about. The only reason it’s brighter on the May 11th screenshot is because I had my gamma/brightness turned up because it’s hard to see purple people when they’re standing next to purple walls. It also causes the lights to have a “flickering” effect; like if one room is really dark and I walk into the next room and it isn’t dark, it will change the lighting and cause everything to brighten up really quickly like a flicker or something.

It’s happened before the latest patch, but I waited to post because I thought maybe this patch would help. I’m running the 11.5a RC3 drivers. I have been using 2 custom cfgs, but both of them display this problem and, like I said, it also happens whenever I rename my autoexec to something else and let the game just start up without any cfgs running.

EDIT: Forgot to mention that the sticky that was up about the screen being blue or having a blue tint didn’t help, just in case these two issues are related or something.

It’s part of the game as bad as that may sound. I hope that soon they’ll release a quick hotfix-patch that’ll allow players to use the locked commands that could possibly remove that and DOF.

i have same issue, but only happens after long periods of gaming.

I play on the 360 and I see the same exact problem – only I called it “blue.” It no less than completely blows my mind that I’ve seen no one else, until now, mention it other than myself. This graphic issue is extremely off-putting, almost as bad as the terrible aliasing (on the 360 version anyway).

Shadowy or dark areas are a “bruised” color!

There’s no way this is supposed to be part of the game; if so, that’s just a horrible, horrible design decision.

Yeah, that’s not at all what I see when I play. It’s not how the game’s supposed to look. What is your gamma setting in your video card controls, monitor brightness, and in-game gamma? It kinda looks to me like the gamma is set too high, but it could be a shader issue, in which case a driver update may fix it.

You could also try deleting the generated folder from …\Users#user#\AppData\Local\splash damage\brink\base\

Disabling Motion Blur might also help if you haven’t already done so.

Motion blur is disabled.

Gamma and brightness in game have been set anywhere from .5 to 2 and it still happens so it isn’t that. My video card and monitor also have brightness at their defaults.

I’ll wait for the RC4 drivers that are coming this week before I delete any folders just to see if the drivers fix it.

No, just, no. Don’t even try the whole “what is your contrast/gamma/brightness/sharpness/color range/tv brand/coffee maker/favorite shoe crap.” I said it before on here somewhere, I sub-contract as a professional video editor and graphic designer – I have an extremely well trained eye for what video/imagery is supposed to look like. My 40" Sony LCD is expertly calibrated and I play through HDMI. In-game gamma settings do virtually nothing to amend this issue high, low, or in the middle. Nothing at all.

This is not my TV or my settings.
