"Punching Above Your Weight" - and other GDC presentations

(3Suns) #1

I just checked at the GDC page and one has to be a member to view Paul Greveson’s lecture. Is there anyway we might be able to get our hands on any part of this presentation? Same goes forthe other panels. We haven’t forgotten.
:stroggtapir:

I would love to know how the presentations were received, by the way. Seems to me, from what I know of the size of the art team, that SD has indeed, punched WAY above their weight, but got a KO anyway! Love it! Want to learn more!

Doubtful you will be able to see any of those in their original content. Aspiring game devs pay lots of money to go to those seminars, their value would be greatly decreased if you could just wait a month and get most of the content for free later on.

Maybe parts of a powerpoint or something later will show up.

My stuff should be on SlideShare sometime soon.

(3Suns) #4

I want to write another Rap about you.

Exedore!
Lead game designer,
In the forum,
Never bores 'em
Often floors 'em.
Has the info,
Needs no gitmo.
Isn’t latent,
Always patient.
Brings the slides,
Gives free rides!
Exedore!
Exedore!

PS It didn’t take me 12 hours to write. LOL I just had to watch some shows and get a good night’s sleep first.

(LyndonL) #6

… you’re a sick man 3Suns

(H0RSE) #7

Gives free rides!

mustache rides I hope.

(Cankor) #8

Notice I am staying clear of that one.

(Wraith) #9

I guess some people just want to ride the H0RSE.

(Ajax's Spear) #10

Haha how? By quoting it and responding to it?

(Cankor) #11

Are you saying I was being intentionally ironic?

(Ajax's Spear) #12

Never would I insinuate such a thing! Good day sir!

(Herandar) #13

Mock outrage! GRUMBLE GRUMBLE GRUMBLE!!

(SphereCow) #14

I too am very interested in seeing MoP’s lecture on punching really big people.

Creating a solid pipeline for dozens of characters with dozens of different types of clothing, gear, and joints for weapon attachments on their body must have been a bit of a challenge.

Really interested to understand that.

Edit: Hah. Wee, been here for a year, starting yesterday.

Felt like a half.

I can see the ‘reinvent the camera’ analogy.
Are we ever going to get the real narrative? Because if I fill in the blanks myself you appear to be on mushrooms.

(LyndonL) #17

Awesome! Thanks for that! Would be great to have been able to hear your presentation. You can pm me the secret link later

Change the Speaker Note on slide 20 to: “WE EAT COD!!!”
HaHaa :D… Priceless!

(Exedore) #19

I’m not not licking toads.

If there are questions, just ask. I was trying to avoid text in the slides themselves, and only added most of those notes after the fact so it was slightly more coherent.

“Mingleplayer.” Word of the day.

EDIT: On one hand, I’m impressed. I’m so used to people just reading their slides when they give a presentation, it’s a relief to see slides where 90% are just representative images that don’t tell me what I need to know.

On the other hand, it tells me very little without the transcript. XD
