PSA: More players near EV = Faster movement speed?

(Faraleth) #1

I have seen this question asked over, and over, and over, and over, and over again… with no one never really providing any evidence to whether it does or doesn’t. Considering on the Dirty Bomb stream today, people were equally confused, I thought I would prove the answer here.

So where did the rumor start?
It actually began due to an old glitch on the map Bridge, where multiple people standing near the EV would cause it to move faster. - In the June 2015 Sparks Update, this issue was fixed:

Full patch notes: http://dirtybomb.nexon.net/news/2435/sparks-update

So what is it now?
Since this bug was indeed fixed to make the EV move at a constant speed on Bridge, it has not been altered since. The more people around an EV does NOT make it move faster. So hopefully this can put this annoying rumor to rest that I keep being asked around the forums and social media, as well as in-game.

This was mentioned less than 20 minutes ago. Why are you so punctual?

(XavienX) #3

I’m not exactly sure, but I think I remember EV speed stacking in many maps. Can anyone confirm this? Perhaps this was back in Closed Beta like months ago when I was a noob?

(N8o) #4

You used to be able to stack on it, but it was indeed switched. You can see it… in the post… that Faraleth wrote… On this thread… You are currently on.

(Faraleth) #5

@Xavien that’s exactly what the post is about… >.< :stuck_out_tongue:

(MarsRover) #6

But do people move faster the more EVs are around them?

(SirSwag) #7

That sucks. I was hoping to see an EV drift on Chapel.

(Frogteam) #8

Y’all didn’t even read Xavien’s post, this thread only addressed the EV on bridge. I’m pretty sure it also used to affect the speed on Chapel.

This is a real Signature.

(XavienX) #9

I mean you said only for Bridge, I was asking if it used to apply to other EV maps as well. @Faraleth

(Black) #10

Hmm. Why not show a indicator on top of the ev to show how many people are around it to know how fast it’s going?

(TheVulpesFox) #11

Well they don’t need to, because it moves at a fixed speed no matter how many players. More players does NOT increase the speed. Unless I misunderstood what you were saying.

(Ardez1) #12

Yes, it used to work for all maps way way way back when(Before beta). When they took that feature away it was left on bridge for some reason. Bridge was the only map affected by this issue. They bugfixed it during the sparks update as Faraleth said.

(Maddpadd) #13

No! Cos they will get caught on the EV’s collision boxes & move at the same speed as the EV’s  :s :stuck_out_tongue:

Well i know it moves at a fixed speed no matter how many players there are on BRIDGE. But on the other maps they should add an indicator.

(Ardez1) #15

It goes the same speed on all maps. In no scenario does it go faster with more people around it.

(Ctrix) #16

Well, in all other games that have payload style matches the payload does go faster with more people, so it makes sense people would assume that here.

(bushyg) #17

But Dagon is a Nexon employee, he clearly knows what he’s on about. I mean he’s the one who’s been playing and testing the game for 6 months, gees.

(Lumi) #18

Except that, the more people around the EV, the better its advance is defended and the faster the total distance is covered. Hehe…

(CCP115) #19

The real question is why did they change that? It adds a lot of potential for cool synergies and teamplay and such.

Just have a diminshing returns system, or a cap like TF2.
