[PS3] Killed by a player that wasn't there...

Last night I had the strangest thing happen to me… namely: dying repeatedly at the hands of a player that had logged off.

Played a (stopwatch) match at Resort last night (8.11.2011 10:14PM) with digitalzero. After said match, he had to bail and I continued on, playing Labs as the next map (8.11.2011 10:37PM & 8.11.2011 10:58PM).

The entire map, both sides of stopwatch match, I kept dying to digitalzero… even though he had long left the game. I would randomly start taking damage from a pistol (kalt or tokmak, I think)… damage which I could not avoid, because it was coming from nowhere.

Anyone else had this happen to them?

Digital Zero has telepathic powers, thought you knew?! He must of been dreaming about Brink and was still playing the game, WITH HIS MIND!!!

On another note that is the weirdest glitch I have heard of so far and first time hearing of it.

Its the rare invisible player bug. Ill post screenshots later of it happening on pc. One of my teammates was just a floating name and icon. I have only seen it once.

I have had this on the PC, however the player had not left the game he was still registered as being in it, even though he, his healthbar, his bar name and scoreboard name were not.

I swear I’m not crazy.

The lone difference, as I stated above, is that he logged out of the game and off of the PSN as well… so he couldn’t have been in the game.

It’s almost like when he left the game, somehow the game glitched and an invisible AI bot took over his place and name.

Honestly I don’t really remember, I was already up later then usual (been falling asleep mad early lately) and once it got to 5v5 I didnt have the motivation to keep playing hard. I didnt notice him online at all though, I always seem to miss when he is on (Time differance). Question… Did you eat any mushrooms or drop acid last night? LOL

I had something similar when the DLC came out. Somehow I was invisible yet I had the floating name of another player that had left the server and I was nowhere to be found on the scoreboard :S

EDIT: PC version. Only had it once

So… what you’re saying that might have happened… is that a new player joined the game, and assumed digitalzero’s spot in the game, but somehow glitched to be invisible in every way except the ability to kill? It would explain most of it. But the part of it that still is inexplicable, is that they were killing me and me alone.

I asked if anyone else on my team (all had headsets and were talking) had suffered this same phenomenon… and it was an unanimous “no”.

So. Very. Weird.

It was happening to me in those games too (getting killed by an invisible Digital Zero)…and I thought I was on the opposite team from you.

It also happened to the guy with “PH” in his PSN ID, who was on my team.

Maybe the player just switched teams at some point.

I’ve seen it happen twice (Xbox). First time, it was a person on my team. Nothing but a name and icon running around. The second time it was someone on the opposite team. He wasn’t showing on the scoreboard just on the obituary every time he killed me. Made it real easy for him to escort that bot on CC.
