.prt problem?

(Igloo) #1

Hello,

I have a problem with compiling. Any option which contains -vis can’t be done… because of .prt. I heard it is made when compiling a single test, but I can’t see .prt created. I searched some in forums (yeah, works now, cool ), but I found that it’s why the map is leaked. So there’s no alternative for this -> no leak?

I have some info_notnull placed somewhere on map and preparing to point a light soon. But the “red line” goes from one info_notnull out of map through all clips! (I can understand it if everything is because I didn’t use targetname to link info_notnull to light yet)

Clips don’t seal a map, only solid or caulk brushes do.

Also check the applied texture, some can be non-solid too. The most common mistake is a leak of a few units though, really zoom to make sure the pointline doesn’t go trough a tiny hole.

To isolate holes, you could hide all but the problem brushes. Look where the pointfile seems to go trough, and this will mostly be two brushes placed in an angle. Select them both, press I (invert selection), then press H. (Hide selected.)

Now you can take a good look in 2D view to see if they are not touching where they should be. After you fixed it, pressing Shift+H (unhide all) wil bring your map back.

One other swine of a problem can be that the hull of the map has detail brushes in it. Detailed brushed don’t block -vis, and therefore don’t stop map leaks, press CTRL+D to hide detailed brushes and look for the map hole.

Thanks, I made a square around the map and everything works fine… one leak, but doesn’t matter  Ehh, hopefuly I found this quite quickly…

Making a box around your level is not the way to go. The vis phase can never work correctly like that.

If possible, try to find the leak.

Hmm box was not closed, but made to a half of ground (rest already had a sky, walls so is OK).

Not possible, I have a numer of wrong entity. Nothing highlighted. Any idea how to search by a number which is marked as leak?

You get that message in an small window. Double clicking on the entry in this window selects the entity in question.
