Proxy unavailable

It’s shame they didn’t include proxy on class rotation again. This game lost all it’s fun after repair specialist was unavailable. I had a game where no one in our team had proxy or bushwhacker and other team had. You can guess who won.

Yes it’s possible to win without repair specialist, but having one is a major advantage. Now I have to just hope someone has bought repair specialist. So PAY for repair specialist and go TO WIN games. I will do that too after a lot matches when I have enough credits.

Also with Aura AND Sawbonez being available to all players we are seeing a number of poor quality medics flooding the servers. Nobody really wants to play Arty in the first place so most of the people who don’t have additional mercs have the squad of Skyhammer, Aura and Sawbonez. If you noticed all of the complaints of 3+ Proxys on a team stopped completely with the patch because so many people didn’t actually own her.

Is that what it was about? huh… I just have medic rushes XD

Defeat is inevitable without repair specialist.

We need to either add an engineer merc to the free starter mercs, or allow people to pick their two starter mercs from a list of starter mercs. The first idea is a very simple “bandaid” fix, the second one would be much more newbie friendly in my opinion, but may need more work, especially on the tutorial.

Or an actual fix would be to not make engineers the only class to reliably do objectives.

I wouldn’t do this. Playing objectives quickly is the point of playing an engineer merc. If you look closely, you can see that mercs are divided between five classes.

Medics can heal and revive people.
Supports provide ammo and fire support.
Recons spots enemies and picks key targets.
Assaults pack a lot of firepower and pierce/improve the defense.
Engineers display defensive tools and plays objectives quickly.

Five kind of mercs, with all their purpose. Allowing other classes to touch objectives faster may remove a lot of points about playing an engineer merc. So far, Medics, Supports and Engineers has shown themselves to be pretty much mandatory, and Recons/Assault to be some extremely good team complements. I am not sure if it’s a good idea to allow non Engineer mercs to play objectives faster.

By the way, allowing newbies to pick their starter mercs would be an excellent change. Allow newbies to pick two mercs among an Engineer, a Medic, a Support, a Recon and an Assault, and there will be a lot of variety from start !

(Reddeadcap) #8

Or as they add more mercs have one of each class archetype available?

(Eox) #9

That’s maybe a bit too easy, heh. But I wouldn’t mind it.

Another option could be (prepare for a shocking idea!) to simply open up all the classes instead of hiding them behind a paywall.

The monetisation plan for this game is actually hurting it (and this has happened with other F2P games too) because it is blocking options that could actually make the games more fun for everyone.

Isn’t it weird how that system worked in Brink?

Well but on the other hand, classes in Brink were actually interesting. You know, with like 3-5 abilities each. Even without something to repair (though there was almost always a useful side objective which required repairing), you had atleast 1 engineer for mines, turrets and kevlar. Depending on team size you might even want 2 engineers.

But honest question, do you think the current situation were it takes like 6s+50s to blow up a generator is totally fine with engineer repairing it in ~3s while anyone else takes like 20~30s?

Also, engineers are quite capable of being offensive classes in DB. You should know that.

I really wish they would just do what tf2 or other fps games have done and give us all the mercs/classes. I don’t see a really good reason of releasing them like moba champs.

Edit side note I’ve noticed that I’m playing the same people now as opposed to a week or 2 ago where there were more people playing. I’m sure the devs are aware but they’re losing the already small player base and this type of stuff isn’t helping.
