Proxy seems too weak now

Is it just me or has Proxy been nurfed too much? I used to get one shot kills with the Hollunds 880 at close range - now it takes 2 to 3 shots and I’m being out gunned by every other class. The mine cool-down takes much longer now and their range seems smaller than all the other explosives/'nades. Proxy has little health, short range (Hollunds does practically nothing to anyone unless you’re at point blank and even then takes more than one shot) and mines have an easily avoidable damage radius. I understand reducing an aspect for balance but it seems like everything of Proxy’s has been blunted! Bring back the Hollunds damage OR increase its effective range OR reduce mine cool-down OR increase mine blast radius PLEASE! It’s very difficult to compete with her atm, there is no way Vaselli should out gun Proxy at close range (and this happens much, much more now than when I started using her).

Uhm when was the last time you played? Proxy hasn’t been touched in ages (never in open beta if I remember correctly) and the shotguns just got buffed and are deadlier then ever.

proxy is my go to merc when i want to play as engineer.
She is not weak at all. the mines are fine and the shotgun is good. I’ve played with and against shotgun proxy’s who just wrecks the enemy team going full retard with speed and shotgun :smiley: personally I prefer the smg version which is also very good.

I think some of your problems would be solved with better mine placement and aim practice.

btw vassilis secondary isnt that bad and a good player will indeed pose a threat to any merc up close with it.

No idea what ‘Lock on’ is Adam…?
Sussepus; yep totally agree she’s my go to engineer for objectives and yes better aim would be a reason consistently but my issue is that playing from one month to the next my kills with the Hollundus dropped dramatically (yet apparently Proxy/gun have not been nurfed so guess it’s not that then).
I’m good at mine placement and have a heap of unusual places to put them for unexpected effect so no problem there.
Yeah ok I’ll concede the sniper point but I cant get kills on the Nader without being in the lethal range of Martyrdom.
It’s just weird the amount of times I have a point blank blast to dead center mass and get killed by them showing over 60% health still…?
I ran up to a sniper who was ads & unaware I was even there - pointed my shotty at his head and fired. He not only survived a point blank head shot, he turned and killed me despite being hit again (not sure on accuracy with that second shot but HOW can he have absorbed anything at that point?)
This point blank/head shot thing has happened a few times too :frowning:
I’ll look up the weapon stats and do some more research (Lock-on??) but happy to take advice if I have it wrong, just weird the stark difference.

Grab a Hochfir, and put a bit of distance between you and your opponent.

Don’t rely on mines for kills, they are pretty lackluster.

Get lock on if you are really reliant on mines.

Flank if you plan on using shotguns.

Be really annoying and jump everywhere. Shotguns suffer barely any accuracy penalty while jumping.

Don’t be afraid to jump into the middle of a scuffle and just drop a mine. There is literally nothing the enemy can do except run away. Kind of annoying, especially with Aura health stations.

You can shoot mines to set them off early. Great for baiting enemies. Put down a mine, tap a Vassili on the shoulder, then go round the corner. Shoot the mine. ??? Profit.

Experiment with different loadouts and weapons. I can’t stand the Hollunds, the Rehmburg does more damage if that’s what you want.

You really shouldn’t be using shotguns to begin with. They lack utility when it come to higher skill levels. The fact that they are actually trying to make shotguns a relevant weapon in a “competitive” shooter is pretty concerning.

As for the mines, use them aggressively like grenades by tossing and shooting them, or place them in places where someone would bail too for cover. An experienced player will normally hear the mine way before they come across it and even if they get caught off guard, they will just long jump past it.

On a side note I have found that doing a “drive by” mine drop in an Aura field is pretty effective and potentially amusing. You might kill one opponent, you might kill an entire team, and worst case is an opponent sees the mine and blows up the Aura field along with the mine.

Proxy can’t get lock-on on any of her loadout cards : don’t say things that are not possible at the moment, people.

OP : go for the Hochfir SMG. Sadly shotguns are lackluster and will limit your potential. However Hochfir is a pretty good and easy to use gun.

…? Was there an update since the Phoenix Update I’m unaware of? Cause Proxy is still my best Merc and I’ve been doing great with her, even when not trying to clear objectives. I wouldn’t call her weak at all.

I think people jump on the “proxy is bad” train to quickly @Grave_Knight. I can comp or pub match wreck with her with the hoch or shotty. Doesnt really matter.

It boils down to true competitive play with the shotties and right now, there isnt a scene for that so it doesnt really matter. When dirty cups was active, I rolled Proxy sometimes with a shotty and did just fine.

You keep doing your Proxy thing man, shes a badass merc.

The fun thing now : when I go in some french DB forums, I oftenly read “OMG Proxy is SOOOOO OP”… I don’t share this opinion though. The more I play, the more I think that you should be able to throw the mines a bit farther.

While we’re at it : there should be a way to make shotguns viable in comp without totally wrecking the pubs. We just have to think hard enough I guess.

You can throw them pretty far. Just gotta give a good ole’ crouch jump. You have to commit to it though because if youre off, it can get pretty ugly.

Why would you ever want to make a low skill, low utility weapon viable in a competitive setting? Shotguns simply cannot be balanced, especially in a game that focuses on being highly competitive.

Only mine related perk she has access to is Fail Safe.

Those who say Proxy is weak should get their hands on a KE53 Proxy and try her out for a few rounds. I think she may be replacing Bushie-Bush in my main trio.
