Explosive damage in Dirty Bomb does not penetrate through players or deployables. So if someone is standing behind another player or ammo/health station they may avoid the blast damage entirely.

You’re right they’re broken…but not for the reason you claim…for the fact that they can trigger from behind walls and still kill their target even through things that would logically absorb most or all of the blast.

The open window from the ramp on the last objective of Trainyard in the perfect example…I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard a mine, stopped, and been killed before I even jumped over the threshold through the wall. People love to exploit that spot…

So they are broken on both reasons. They can kill you behind wall but can’t when you are behind ammo/health station. Like i said it’s ridiculous.

Maybe they should first fix the explosion box of the mines. Faraleth told me a long time ago that he’s 99% sure about them being cylinders and not hemispheres as they should be, because the engine can’t handle hemispheres well and SD didn’t want to make the explosion go underground if it’s a full sphere.

Honestly there was next to 0 skill in how old Fragger nades played when the blast could go through people, likewise it’s not exactly hard to drop a mine next to people and shoot it (just easily counterable since you only have to shoot the 90HP squishy beforehand). I am most definitely against bringing back that kind of firepower to manual explosives that can be detonated right in your face in a split second. This kind of multikill potential in a single use of an ability should be reserved for fire supports only since in their case there are big previous warnings that something is up. Proxy manual detonation is fine as it is, it only ever really works around corners so you don’t get shot while getting close, but nonetheless I think the potential to kill people who don’t even have a clear shot on you due to being behind team mates would be too much. There are other reasons why Proxy sucks atm.

Yes, for a few months now explosives have become totally random. And this should be a top-tier priority bug to fix.

If you aim at multiple people, depending on your luck sometimes you will kill all of them, and sometimes you will do no damage to all but one.

If that’s an intentional “feature” (which I highly doubt), this is changing the explosive meta to be extremely luck-dependent, as well as making the most ridiculous concept of explosives I’ve found in a game.

If explosives are OP, nerf them directly. But don’t force players to rely on luck as a way to “balance” them.

likewise it’s not exactly hard to throw brown sticky balls to people and Det/shoot it

then why fletcher have 3 of the fast firing mini mines that is more accurate, throws farther, throws faster than proxy mine and more safe than proxy mine?

also, if fletcher goes into a corncer you pretty much lose.

you could throw 3 stickies in a spot, and do a “PRECISION MANUAL DETONATION” kills 3 80-90 HP mercs and the survivor will get gunned down by fletcher.

Lol when did I say that Proxy is broken? She’s probably the worst merc in the game at the moment, I just don’t agree with making explosive damage go through people that’s all.

You make it sound like it takes 10 seconds for her to leap into melee range than have to leap out before she shoots…it only takes a split second for her to jump in and out and if you aren’t a perfect shot it’s a easy kill for her.

For the same reason Kiratana actually works…because she is fast and hard to hit.

Ever think that the reason she isn’t used in comp is because those people actually know how to shoot the rabid crack bunny?
