Proxy Mine Detection Range Should be Reverted

(SaulWolfden) #1

I noticed repeatedly in the past couple of days just how absurd it is now. You can be far from the mine and it counts as you setting it off. It feels too easy to get kills with it as it is now as well, I’d been getting far more kills than usual (with mines) when I played Proxy. Only the detection range I think should be reverted of the changes made.

An example, a mine was towards one of the pylon legs in an execution match, the mine was off towards the right center of that leg. I was in the middle left of the leg that it wasn’t on (left being further from where the mine was) and it was set off and killed me. It wasn’t even set off right away.

What I don’t get, is why I can’t disarm mines.

Like, I’m totally cool with Proxy getting buffed in exchange for a simple mechanic like this.

You crouch walk to the mine, interact with it, and bam, disarmed.

The range on the mines is large but not THAT large, you’ll crouch walk for maybe half a second.

Why disarm mines when you can get rid of them quicker by shooting them?
Proxy was one of the most up mercs in the game so she needed buffing in some way.

Because I could kill my allies by accident

If it’s actually making mines much more threatening, there should be no additional changes. Make mines gib again too please, she was the ONLY Engineer whose ability could permanently kill and this needs to be restored back.

There’s a difference between fair and unfair, being as far as I was, it shouldn’t have gone off or at least shouldn’t have killed me (at full health) going off at the distance it was at. These situations occasionally happened pre-patch, but not as often as they do post patch.

I honestly don’t think I deserved several of the kills I’ve gotten with the mines post patch, one of them the person was roughly as far away from it as I was from the example I used and it still somehow killed them.

I can’t even long jump to escape their range anymore which really really annoys me. Many times I see a mine and try to shoot it to neutralize it, it somehow kills me when I was sure I was standing far enough.

Then don’t shoot mines while you’re too close, and don’t long jump over them expecting to live? You guys are talking about an ability that before had one of the easiest counterplay strategies, and still relatively easy to play around with.

“You go anywhere near my mines, and it’s goodnight for you.”

About time Proxy’s mines actually lived up to that!

they dont explode so no one knows you are there, if they implement this they should also let the mine icon on proxy’s screen so she doesnt know her mine has been disarmed

You know they just augmented the detection range not the explosion radius, this is not the same if this mine killed you when you shot it it would have killed you too pre-patch
