Proxy Land Mines

Am I the only one who thinks her land mines should stay until she respawns? I think having her land mines stay for ever until they actually pop is the only reason why people actually complain but when you think about it the regular proxy just plants and runs to die to the team there should be some punishment.

You can easly get rid of Proxy’s mines by shooting at them or simply throwing an explosive on it. So far, every maps allow for a pretty “mine safe” passage where checking for mines and getting rid of them is easy, and no objectives actually really prevents someone from getting rid of mines without having to take damage. As far as I noticed, it’s perfectly possible to take out mines at objective points without damaging yourself.

It’s perfectly fine for me.

After putting in more thought I think a proxy mine should allow you to walk up to it within the trigger range and disarm it. The reason? I have found a number of places on a map where it’s nearly impossible to not trigger the mine without either taking significant damage or just outright dying. And there isn’t a way to shoot them. But if you were allowed to walk up to them and disarm quickly you could get past but at the cost of speed. So your mine might not get a kill but you definitely slowed the hell out of people who were coming.

As far as her mines sticking around…I’m fine with it being the way it is. The reason is she only gets 2 out at any time and as pointed out, you can shoot them. Also, having them despawn would change the way you’d play as a Proxy too in some scenarios. If you REALLY need the mines where they are at you can’t go be offensive elsewhere and you’d instead just go and hide. And that doesn’t really fit with the pace of the game and it just sucks as a player who wants to play responsibly as it is not a fun mechanic.

You can hear them as well… I don’t see any problem with Prox mines.

Prox mines are very easy to deal with. On lights long jump as soon as they trigger and you will never die to them. On meds and heavies you can just blow them up and tank some of the damage.
