[quote=“Jemstar;146371”]@Nudles I think you being a bit harsh to SD, though you do make some valid points.
I love ET and think it would be hard for modern games to recreate the magic of ET. It was the custom maps and pk.3’s made by the community that made ET truly unique. And servers were run by the individual clans and fully customised.
In modern games where servers are not run by the community its hard for customisation to occur.
It is hard to have variation when the scene is London only but I’m sure it could be done…so many iconic landmarks that could be incorporated. Like London Bridge, London Tower and Big Ben or Wembly Arena.
As for obj variations I guess you need to use your imagination. Even in ET whether you are stealing gold or secret documents its no different to stealing drug samples or EMP charges.
Building a bridge, truck barrier or tank barrier is all the same objective.
To me Terminal is Oasis really, blow city wall then blow two guns or in Terminal two containers…same map. Chapel is a bit like Goldrush. Underground is a great map that would be similar to 100’s of ET maps.
In ET the maps could be set in Africa or Europe but basically same objectives 1000’s of times, just different textures.
But hey if London was bombed whats to say in the future L.A. could be next, then Sydney then Paris.
The game is in BETA and I think is fun and since the closed BETA has improved heaps. The new Gallery map was awesome and cant wait till it is finished.
Not disagreeing with you just being a bit more realistic.
Looking forward to getn Dirty for a long time and can’t wait to see where SD take it!!!
Just my thoughts!

DB´s Bridge is like Goldrush SW version where the tank stops on the bridge, they have left out the truck sequence at the end and you leave it at a container instead… so yes Terminal and Bridge are basically ripoffs of oasis and goldrush, thats not necessarily a bad thing though, I made a comp of Oasis and terminal here, its even the same layout basically

the problem is that is no variation in DB, you can do so much more with the objective mode concept and yet the same map is over and over again with different textures and paths as you said, so yes, building a bridge like in fueldump or a crane in supply makes a difference, cause its a variation in gameplay… or transporting a boat in a canal in venice
So how long have you played DB? I have played since closed beta so about 1,5 years and it has not been a single new map since I started, dome was in block-mode for over a year so that was boring before it was even released with textures. I guess the new block map will take about the same time to finish, they make maps way to slow and ppl stops playing cause of it, its that simple, thats a FACT that can’t be ignored… or play a lot less cause of that every single person I know that have played for a while, who play this game thinks that the maps are to few and that they make new maps to slow. So if you cant do custom maps then its up to dev to do maps more frequent. But SD is only interested in making money and focus on weapon toys and loadout cards instead, stuff they can charge ppl money for. Yes I think SD is the worst devs ever and that they should sell their opj based gameplay to someone that has the creativity to actually make something of it… cause SD has failed at it three times now (quakewars, Brink and DB), yes DB is a failure with about 3,500-4000 players at the same time and the only problem is too few maps, witch they totally ignore or think they can fix with yet another escort and blow something up map, how about making some maps that actually are different from the ones you already have made, that would be my goal as a mapmaker, but not SD’s mapmakers…
