How do you put props in the map like the rugs on the floor in oasis? I see the textures, but I don’t know if I’m supposed to make a heightless brush or what.
Props
I guess they used a patch mesh(thats under curves)
Justr make a normal brush the size of the rug and while still selected go to curves and then select patch mesh and use the standard density for the mesh( 3 and 3 )
To make a decal, put the decal texture on one face, put nodraw on the others, and set it so the the decal is exactly level with the surface you want it it appear on. This is another case where overlapping brushes are not a problem.
For a decal to work, it must have polygonoffset in it’s shader. Otherwise there will be horrible z-fighting. Even ones that do have polygonoffset may z-fight at long distances, so I would suggest restricting them to places where you can’t see them from very far away.
I would guess that most places where there are rugs on the floor etc, it is not done with decals, but with regular brushes. Cut your floor brush where you want the rug, and put the rug texture on it. Much more efficient, and less prone to ugly artifacts.
There is abosolutely no reason to use patch mesh unless it is curved.
