Project: Normandy Beach Invasion

Hey all!
I’m currently working on a Normandy Beach map for ET!
The beginning beach area is similar to mp_beach for RTCW, but I have not copied any actual work, and have made a few differences from mp_beach. The inner Axis base will be much different from mp_beach.

The objectives will remain the same, Allies steal the secret documents and transmit them, but the transmitter and war room will look much different and be in different places.

Right now I’m working on the trenches and starting to get into the inner base area.

I’d like to thank my pals, The_J, Deathmaster, and sock, for helping everyone with their mapping on the SD forums, especially me.

if i was you i shouldnt take mp_beach as an example cuz its not realistic…

I didn’t take mp_beach as an example.
I did research, and the whole point of this is trying to make it more realistic.

I’m also taking ideas from other Normandy levels, including MOHAA Frontline.

The map is really looking good since one week ago (or maybe less) you were asking about crashing in limbo

You learn very fast, i am happy to have guided you, and even more happy that you appreciated it :slight_smile:

I dont see this as a wanna be beach map, because there is very little info on the map, maybe the objectives are an interesting twist and combination which should be cool.

You should do a map really different than mp_beach (with different objectives !!)

Except that map is illegal.
You can’t import work from mp_beach into ET.

dont know if its illegal - it is a lot different to what it first seems like

I dont believe this to be a copy of any beach map released so far…

I don’t want to restart a polemic about mp_beach conversion : illegal or not.
I don’t care.

But D_day exists and will exist. I’m pretty sure.

I just told you that you should do a map more different.
That’s all. After that do what you want !!

If you’re going to do a map and call it Normandy beach (or whatever) then you should strive to match the real landings (same beach as in the opening sequence in Saving Private Ryan). There are plenty of research materials out there so it’s just paint by numbers really. Would add some realism to your project and give you ideas for buildings to construct and objectives to make. Otherwise you’ll just have another battery/mp_beach clone.

Are you sure you wanna release it? Cause you’re blaiming me about a beach map, and then release one yourself. My beach map is the only one with an objective to blow up instead off keep stealing stuff and transmit them. (Ok then, battery, but my map has 2 :stuck_out_tongue: ) So, my beach map is an original beach map.
