Problems after mainteance (19.8)

(creamHotel) #1

So after the short mainteance a few hours ago all my binds got deleted ( yea i had alot of binds ) and i am not able to set them up again for some reason. Did anyone experience that as well ? Anything i can do? Also , I noticed there is a sound when you kill sombody now , which is definetly retarded , just my opinion.

(Ghosthree3) #2

Kill or hit? Because hit beeps have been in forever just disabled by default, maybe they changed it. Every good player I know prefers hit beeps to no hit beeps btw.

(Mister__Wiggles) #3

Hit beeps and no hit markers is how I play. its way easier to know where your shots are landing.

Now incorporating sound notifications - for the blind people!

(creamHotel) #5

No , actual killsounds , i also play with hitbeeps , but now there is like a weird sound when i take somebody down

The best thing about hit markers is that they appear when you hit somebody through smoke and dust particles that happen during airstrikes. It’s the best reason to keep them on.

I’m not sure what happened to your binds but I do know that it’s a great idea to ALWAYS make a copy of your entire config directory. Especially in a game where changing your .ini settings is common.

Yea the problem is that i cant set the binds back up , it wouldnt take that much time to just copy+ paste them back in the consol , but it just doesnt work…

(Amerika) #8

The config directory holds all of the .ini files that control everything from what the game looks like to your binds. Having a copy of those and then either putting them back in case you lose them or having an easy resources to use when copy/pasting makes a world of difference. I’m not saying you should have to do this as the game shouldn’t be axing your settings on the regular but it’s just a good way to ensure you have very little down time or annoyance when/if it does happen.

Yeah this is ridiculous. Everything was fine pre-patch, but now at least several times per launch (sometimes several times per game), all my binds disappear and I have to interrupt my match to go and fix it.

Horrible.

(creamHotel) #10

So is it only me getting that alien sound upon killing players?

You don’t happen to have your .ini file for binds set to read only do you?

Where do I find this file? I can’t find it where I have DB installed.
I don’t think that’s an issue, unless the patch turned it to read only, as everything was fine before the patch.

My Document>My Games>UnrealEngine3

Path looks something like that if I recall correctly.

(Edzer) #14

Anyone has a clean ShooterInput config file for me? Changed something after the patch and suddenly my game is broken rip.

@Amerika @Ardez maybe?

(Amerika) #15

I don’t have one right now but I will have one shortly after I get home tonight.

(Edzer) #16

@Amerika Thanks but nevermind, found a clean one and game is running again.

(Ghosthree3) #17

Deleting it and starting the game would have generated a clean one.
