Problem with radiant

(Rifleman) #1

Hello, i’m a radiant noob and i have a problem.
Texture only shows from certain angles and when not close to the brush.
This hasn’t happened to me before so i have no idea how to fix it.
Any ideas?

Thx in advance.

Is this Radiant 1.5?

(carnage) #3

i get this problem but only when i work with complex shapes so i can usualy just live with it

are u using a ATI graphix card?

(Rifleman) #4

mobile intel.

Thats in 1.4
I downloaded the 1.5 and its fine there… so i’ll combine both versions i guess, what i cant in 1.5 i’ll try in 1.4.

I have 1.4 version… anyway i think it is better than 1.5

1.5 = more functions = more problems

Igloo :moo:

i have the exact same problem with a backup pavilion with intel graphics and xp on it. default settings, fresh install, create a new map, make a single brush and the result is just as in the pictures above.

on my main linux installation of 1.4 i had something else strange happen. normally when you select a brush or an entity it’s outlined in red in the 2d window and highlighted in red in the 3d window. for some reason the 3d window highlighting stopped working. i couldn’t find anywhere in the menus to fix it(maybe i’m impatient) so i just deleted the local.pref and fixed it that way. don’t ask me why i mentioned this last bit.

heh… I suppose you aren’t using cubic clipping?
Wait… maybe cubic clipping shows the whole brush anyway.

Very likely this is caused by the intel graphics chips or drivers. A mainstream card (I’d suggest nvidia) will work far better. Even a really old / cheap one like a Geforce 1 or gf2 MX.

sodsm live:
Your highlighting problem is probably caused by hitting the j key. It cycles the way selected brushes are shown.

thanks reyalP. my stubby fingers must have hit the J and not noticed. every once in a while i’ll forget i’m in radiant and try to control the 3d view like i’m in spec mode in ET.

about the intel graphics thing, i didn’t even want to mess with it cuz i only had an extra nvida agp card and the inherited pavilion i have doesn’t even have an agp slot. so i put together an old athlon xp machine i had laying around. it’s just a 2400xp on a kt400 mobo but it blows the pants off the 2GHz celeron / intel-board pavilion.
