Problem with map leaks and mirrored planes

(BlackHawk7) #1

Being new to this mapping deal and all (I just started yesterday) I’m not too sure about debugging and all yet, so here goes.

I was just working around with my new map (right-click>save (target) as…), and I was doing great until this happened:
Entity 4, Brush 1: mirrored plane
Entity 4, Brush 3: mirrored plane
Entity 4, Brush 4: mirrored plane
Entity 4, Brush 5: mirrored plane
Entity 4, Brush 6: mirrored plane
Entity 4, Brush 7: mirrored plane

Whenever I double-click any of those, it supposedly selects an area, but whenever I go to it, nothing exists there. If anybody could take a quick peek I’d be GREATLY appreciative.

On a side note:

  1. I’m trying to figure out how to make a tank path from the edge of the map (near the bunker) to shoot the V2 missile.
  2. I’m trying to make the a MG (one I hope to have constructable) to be dynamitable and make it face toward the incoming tank.

I did some research about this problem, and I found a few places where it said to use the plugin bobtoolz and to use the Brush Cleanup, which solved the problem I am having, but for me, it doesn’t work.

Ok for the mirrored plane error, try hitting the brush cleanup tool. It looks like a recycling logo. If you search for the mg you should be able to find a prefab of one.

Nope, already tried it. Doesn’t work :-\ I believe the one in the toolbar is the same exact one that bobtoolz uses.

(CooperHawkes) #4

did you use the clipper tool on terrain? sometimes this puts the terrain texture on the clip face which sometimes results in this error (don’t ask me why ;-))

(BlackHawk7) #5

I wish it were as simple as that, but no. You might want to open it yourself for a looksee…

(The Wanderer) #6

did you copy paste something from another map? You have a bad func_explosive in your map somewhere outside it
Press L and click the little arrow next to func_explosive. This will open the list of func explosives in your map. Select the only one there, click select and then delete it.
It should fix your problem.

Also you can remove all the vertexremapshader keys in your worldspawn as they’re unnecessary.

Works like a charm! Thank you SO VERY MUCH!

…except for one problem now. I don’t know why, but all of my maps are crashing when I get into ET. Once I go into the limbo menu it hangs. I don’t think it has to do with anything that’s local, 'cause I’ve removed all local mods. Anybody have any idea?

you have to set mapcoordsmins and mapcoordsmaxs for you map
search for it on the forum or maybe this one will help you enough
btw i don’t know how but i think it is because of the patch 2.60 but i was testing some stuff in a small map and i forget about these coords, but it did work, i could go into limbo without any problems, kinda weird. but you should never forget them though

(IneQuation) #10

These coords are there just for proper scaling of the command map and the icons (players, objectives etc.).

Yep, that was the problem, thanks again guys.
