problem with lights

hey
i have a problem
somewhere i read that maps in et are completely black if there isn’t any light source…
i created a map without lights (and without skies) but i can still see anything
i ask this because i want to make a darker map without many lights …
i hope you can help :smiley:

Did you do a Light compile?

Or just a Meta Compile???

If you don’t do a light compile then the map is completely lit up, no shadows etc…

i do bsp -meta any time…

You should be doing a -meta -vis -light compile.

You need those three processes for a final compile.

I recommend …

Q3Map2: (final) BSP -meta, -vis, -light -fast -filter -samples 2

And you can learn more advanced switches as you gain more experience.
