Problem with abilities

Sorry if abilities is the wrong term but I’m having a hard time trying to use my merc’s ability for example if I’m playing as Fragger I have to repeatably press q in order to throw my grenade and by the time it has thrown the opportunity to do damage is gone also it’s the same when I try to place a medical station. And no it’s not my keyboard that is the problem due to being able to type just fine

Does your keyboard have anti-ghosting? If not, you might be pressing too many keys at the same time and it won’t be able to process all the inputs.

Well it has never been a problem in any other game

What happens when you rebind your Q ability to a different key? If the same thing happens then it’s something weird with your game. You can always do a Steam file integrity check (go into the game properties, local files and verify integrity of game cache IIRC). You can also remove all of your config files (back them up, don’t delete) and let the game recreate them. If the latter is part of your problem then uninstalling and reinstalling won’t help since those files remain on the system after uninstall.

You can find those files in C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\Documents\my games\UnrealEngine3\ShooterGame\Config

Right so the problem was that I couldn’t move and use the ability, but i rebound the key to “v” and now I can move and use the ability but v is a pain to press when moving

You can press 4 or 5 to switch to ability weapons. Fragger and Fletcher will hold their grenades. Nader will use the Nade-Launcher, Kira will switch to the Lasergun, etc…

As @ebonyMountain says, you can swap to grenades etc. the way you do a normal weapon. It’s generally better than using Q if you’re going to hold it down ( to cook a grenade, for instance ), as it makes movement less awkward.

But in a quick situation I don’t want to be selecting the grenade (pressing 4) and then having to cook the grenade to throw it I’d rather just have to press the one button quickly. I’m going to be trying to use middle mouse button.

I’m not sure what you are asking here. Do you want to telepathically be able to chuck grenades? I mean, there’s now way around the fact you have to push a button.

No I am saying I don’t want to be pressing more than one button to throw the grenade.

Besides I have switched the button to middle mouse button and that feels good to me, thanks for answering peeps.
