Problem of teamplay and classes

I agree with the general murmur around here (and from players that already left), that the game has to go back to class-specific objectives. However, it seems the game is not gonna go in that direction, and all classes will be able to do all objectives.

A middle ground I’m proposing is to give non-obj class a one-time tool that could contribute to the obj. E.g. instead of making a medic defuse c4 for ~10sec, give them a tool that will defuse 20-25% of C4 but quickly, after which the medic cannot contribute to further defuse, until next spawn. Something like multitools in Deus Ex.

The game is fast paced, meaning the only players that will like the game, are those who love little bit of chaos&mayhem. To expect such players sacrifice 10sec of playtime to contribute to the goal that anybody else could/should do… do we really need to discuss this further? Gotta get rid of such downtimes.

This will allow all players to still contribute to the objective, promote teamwork by few players adding in together to finish something quickly, and still rely on obj-specific classes to do most of the work (I’ve done this 25%, now you finish it - :stroggbanana:xp confetti all around)

So in the absence of an objective class multiple mercs will need to collaborate to complete the objective? Awesome. That sounds like a much better solution.

I like the idea, but what if you’re the guy left, you’re a non-objective class, and you have killed off 2-3 people on the other team. You deserve the opportunity to fully defuse.

You can attach different requirements depending on the task. I agree that defusing should be easier as that kind of is the whole point of the explosive objective. But then again, there should be an advantage to having objective-specialists in your team.

Szakalot’s suggestion also allows for further fine-tuning. A generalist merc could count for two out of four parts of the objective while a specialist merc can only account for 1. Therefore to complete a 4 part objective you need one generalist and two specialists (or simply one objective dude).
