Private server apps - will/can they work in Brink.

hi guys,

i recently got hooked on L4D2 and i stumbled over these “apps” on private servers. they were/are quite common on CS(:S) servers too. i hope to get stuff like this for my [dream]own private brink server [/dream].

commonly they give you this welcome screen, play custom music (mainly overused), can track player stats on the server (any who’s played), keep track of bans/kicks, allow “betting” games for rounds, display damage dealt/received and give you other features/help/scores over the chat(-console).

anybody knows this, has a link or can tell me if that is compatible to brink. i guess since its over steam, it should work, or am i mistaken?

It’s not to do with Steam. It’s to do with the server. L4D2 uses the HalfLife Dedicated Server (HLDS) and some guys developed SourceMod to allow you to customise the server.

Brink will run on IDTech4 engine, and as such will I guess use a similar setup to what ET:QW uses for it’s servers. So do some Googling and see how much customising is available to IDTech servers.

grand! thx, mate.

sure hope there’s similar stuff to toy with.

It’s possible to make such apps and some with similar functionality have existed in etqw that track player stats and pretty much can be extended to any events in the serv, tho i don’t see a way to play music for example.

I’m quite sure those apps for cs:s won’t be compatible with brink tho.

Custom soundpack would be my dream…
