Priority

(EGOMET) #1

Let’s talk about priority of objective in the online play

basic concept:

When low on time it make sense to capture a secondary objective ?

All maps have shortcuts when low on time it has sense to break a barricate when you can sneak through another passage ?

And above all

why on ps3 nobody use the microphone ???

I mean is easyer to win a game if in a squad you can communicate.

I’ll go to fix the robot, if you are killed near an objective wait for me i’m a doctor, ecc…

I prefer gain 3/400 xp and win a game because i held the machine gun nest than to gain 6/8ooo xp and loose the game.

I think you mean lose, not loose

I always thought the same thing then i realized 90 percent of time I am playing with bots and no one on my list plays brink anymore so I’m forced to use random, ah well.

(morguen87) #4

yes, because if he spelled ‘lose’ correctly his post would be totally error-free.

(EGOMET) #5

Sorry… I just searched for the meaning of “loose”

I understand what you’re trying to say EGOMET, and I’m with you 98%.

The 2% is, if time is running out, and a major reason for that is the other team is winning firefight after firefight because they have more health because they hold the health command post… that’s one “secondary objective” that, to me, becomes a priority.

Obviously how far out of the way the HCP is between me and the primary objective is a factor, but at times, even being at the polar opposite end of the map, it can be worth it.

If there’s less than a minute remaining… well… at that point the health objective needs to be en-route to the primary to be worth the man-down.

Just my opinion.

Blizzard uses a similar concept on Starcraft maps. It uses rocks or debris blockades to deny certain paths in the early phases of the game. The first units would need to be committed for a very long time in order to cut through the barricade. When the game proceeds and the units become more powerful and numerous they can easily wipe away the barricades and thus the map changes dynamically to the phases of the game.

I don’t think it’s something that should simply be handed out to attackers though. Dynamic spawn times, if balanced well, should suffice in keeping the matches interesting.

I liked in RtCW where the primary, game winning objective was always in reach from the get-go, and going for the secondary routes weren’t a necessity, but a choice… but a considerable choice. You would have to spend man-power grabbing that quicker alt route, but the enemy would also need to spend the same man power defending it. I don’t get that feeling with Brink, the alt routes are taken if someone remembers and cba… and the same goes for defending it as well.

Serious question: Are there any MUST HAVE alt routes in any of the maps that could sway the game and completely change how the map is played? I haven’t explored all of the options, and will admit I have been lazy in seeking them out.

Alternate routes are a must in all escort missions when the defensive team is dug in. You can’t just be hitting your head against a wall and expect it to crack.

You find another route, to break their defense.

Possibly the lift on aquarium if the escort is down in latter stages of map,
the lift offers the ability to get behind the enemy path from spawn and on high ground. If you keep this alt route, it can sway the battle, and to destroy it, the enemy have to be a fair distance from main objective.

If you are at the base of the narrow ramp halfway along in Aquarium, looking up the ramp, look to your left 90 degrees and up. You can see an aircon vent that you can reach with a light or medium by climbing boxes.

I have found this to be a phenomenal spot! Looking out over the ramp gives you a clear shot and high-view of all the enemy dug in at the top and at the MG nest. Also, if you climb your way through it you can end up at the high point above the top of the ramp, flank your enemy and have the high ground.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
