Primary Hacking Objectives -- Why are they so difficult?

(ThePilgrim101) #1

After playing pretty heavily the past few days, I’ve noticed that there is one specific objective that is unbearably hard to ever complete:

Hacking.

Honestly, it’s not even the fact that it takes so long for the hacking to occur. That’s fine. However, I do find it a bit of a problem that it takes a good couple minutes to actually reach 90% complete…and then an enemy engineer can walk over and reverse all of the progress in less than fifteen seconds, which incidentily, is less time than it takes to spawn.

I wouldn’t suggest removing the engineers ability to disarm hack boxes…but that really only leaves either 1) Speeding up Hack speed or 2) Decreasing Reversal speed.

There is always option 3) Get better at the game, but I don’t think even the devs could help that

Thoughts?

Learn good hiding spots near hack objectives that still give you a signal. Multiple operatives all working st once from different areas to hack with people guarding the hack box?

Yeah, hiding and hoping you have other people hacking with you to speed it up and hope there isn’t a full team coming your way to restart your progress all over again

The Engineers’ “defuse” speed should be reduced somewhat, I think he can undo it faster than two Operatives can hack it.

Hacking is definitely broken imo. Plant a HE charge get ur gun out + 3-4 nades and you can harass a team enough SOLO to defend it. Hacking by yourself you’re unarmed and it always take so much longer… even with a team with you it takes entirely too long.

What I feel would fix the issue so you don’t need 3+ operative rushes is.

  1. Operative Places box and then can take out weapon.
  2. Hacking speed is increased 30-35%
  3. Operatives range is what determines the signal strength
  4. If operative dies he has to go sync with the hack device again before resuming the hack.
