Pricing

It would be interesting to gather the thoughts of the community regarding the current pricing structure in DB.

I believe it is extremely expensive in its current form. I didn’t balk at paying $120 to get into the Alpha/Beta, but $10-15 USD to unlock classes…

Even at 50% off, the price would be still insane. I’m in AUS where the average wage is extremely high, I cannot even fathom how people in countries where the wage is much lower would be able to afford what this game is demanding.

I am very aware that Nexon/SD would have market research on the balance point between cost & actual number of sales. My only conclusion I can make is that the price is extremely high to get people that just ‘can’t wait’ and they will catch the rest of us who think it’s too high with 25-50% off sales.

Just to give an overall idea about pricing : Merc starter pack price in different countries :

(This site is pretty accurate)

TL;DR Once the open beta flood gates open, the number of people buying / not buying mercs will hopefully impact whether the prices stay as they are or drop down to something more reasonable.

I feel like as much as we might voice our opinion on this here, it’ll make little difference until the real “proof” comes in one way or another: Once we hit open beta and/or release, the numbers will speak for themselves as to whether the mercs are priced too highly.

For me, I absolutely agree - $10/£8 (currency exchange rate issues aside) is far too much for a single merc. This is to the point where even though I want to support the game, I don’t feel like I’m getting enough for my money that I can justify it - especially when we know mercs are being added fairly regularly. If it were half that? I’d be far more willing.

This applies to everything available for sale right now really, the credit boosters don’t offer enough return on what you’re paying. Example: For the price of 3 credit boosters, you could just buy a 50k merc, but using those 3 credit boosters you likely won’t make 50k of extra credits.

Indeed, you will be lucky to make half that. To be honest, buying a boost before realizing how little actual impact it has wasn’t a fun revelation, mostly because whoever is in charge of the monetization surely know the relative (low) value of them.

On the other hand, I have no problem paying ten euro for a merc to avoid grind and get instant access if I don’t have credits stockpiled. And given how daily missions work now (3hrs, abandon unwanted), amassing 50k credits is almost too quick at the moment (don’t hurt me too much).

Agree entirely. I bought 1 class(the fragger) and I regret doing so immensely. I just want to play the game, and have a range of playstyles to pick from to keep it varying.

But it takes réally, REALLY long to unlock anything with ingame currency, and it is stupidly expensive to buy a class. I had to pay 10 euro for 1 class. Unlocking but HALF THE CLASSES in this game costs you the price of a brand new AAA gaming title. That’s absurd.

But don’t forget they also try to bait you into buying cards, which cost 5 euro per case, 5 fucking euro for 1 case. The entire game resolves around these cards so for new players it’s more difficult to get into unless they start paying up.

The business model is disgusting, and I hope they realize so at one point or another.

I’m not buying anything until they drop the price. The pricing and business model disgust me so much I almost don’t want to play the game anymore.

Not to mention that you have to buy blind, can’t try before you buy. Sure we have the merc rotation and all, but really, we should be able to launch a private shooting range or something to try any merc and loadout card we want before buying. This is not only to allow us to try before we buy, but also just a shooting range to play around with settings, testing shit and general practice.
