Pricing

(Milky Mac) #1

At its current pricing, it will cost around $160 for ALL the mercs in USD that is like purchasing four AAA games that have just been released.

Or 720,000 credits which at an avg of 150 credits for a 10 minute obj, relates to 4800 games. 4800 games at 10 minutes a pop is 48,000 minutes or 800 hours.

It might just be me but I believe 800 hours or $160 is a little much for 19 mercs in a f2p game. You will lose your whole fan-base except for those which have no lives, or have large sums of cash to throw at a game. You’re only argument could be your f2p model and you are trying to ear money or you don’t want the players to get bored. If your community gets bored because they have all the mercs that’s more of an underlying issue with the game not the mercs pricing. Look at t2f arguably the most successful f2p game out there and they have had the same 9 classes since its release 8 years ago.

If you want to make money just let nexon do what they do best and rape our wallets with cool gear. Just make them cosmetic only no better stats because no-body likes p2w. And make it something like $30 for all the mercs like in a bundle.

All in all get your **** together SD.

I hope they can introduce paid cosmetics soon, and then reduce the credit price of the Mercs.

The $10 price tag is only a concern for me when combined with the 50k price tag and current credit gain rates (It really feels like it was done to “encourage” you to buy with real monies in its current state).

Yes I understand game development isn’t cheap. I’m not suggesting they reduce the real money price, nor I am I suggesting they make the in game price so low that there’s never a need to buy with money.

If Mercs were $10 and say, 35k-40k Creds, perhaps people wouldn’t be so irked about the real money price, as they’d only feel like they need* to purchase one every now and again. As opposed to feeling like the need* to purchase all new mercs. (Alternatively, increase the credit gain rates/give more ways to earn credits/give credit bonuses based on performance in a match)

*Need in the sense of, needing to purchase with real money because they can’t dedicate hours and hours per day grinding out credits.

ehm no?
starterpack 20$
unlock 1 merc with credits
buy 1more merc 10$

at the moment you need 30$ to unlock all mercs, learn maths please
there will probably be more packs.
there will be more ways to earn credits.
there will be more customization.
I’m not defending their model, but I suggest you to wait until it’s finished and then complain

I’d buy most mercs without hesitation, if they came with a price tag of around 2.49 or 2.99 each, with no “higher tier” of mercs.
Having mercs of varying prices just sounds wrong to me.

At 3.99 I’d still buy some mercs.
At the current lower tier, 4.99, I’ve bought one merc, but I don’t think I’ll pay for another one.

I absolutely refuse to pay 10 for a single character.
I don’t want to give the green light to this greedy pricing, or to the plan to have separate tiers of mercs.

I whole-heartedly agree! I played a game ending with 8000 pts, and 23/7 and only got 195 credits. That is insanely low for character unlocks at 30k and 50k. Considering some of them are rotation only, good luck actually getting that many credits before they are rotated out.

This was the BEST case scenario where i had a good team, i was top of a losing team after that with only 3000 pts achieved, and only got 78 credits. Lets face it, losing games will be the majority of matches for a high % of people. So the BEST case scenario of credits earned per match are exceptionally low, and the OP statement of 800 hours to unlock all characters is an overly generous estimate even! Probably closer to 1000 hours to an average player.

That is INSANE. They need to significantly increase the credits earned, frequency of challenges offered. Let’s not forget about all the credit penalties that the winning team gets when the opposing team starts rage-quitting… This game pushes the winning team for ragequits on the opposite team, AND even with exceptionally good points scores, you get miserably sad amounts of credit.

Quite frankly, this game offers VERY little incentive to play long-term. The longer you play, the more frustrating your goals credit purchase goals become. If they dont fix this at LEAST by game release, im done. I have stuck with this game for its 2+ year development even back during its “Extraction” days, and hope they realize long time players dont want to have to play 1000 hours to try everything out… that is more than insane.

As far as I know DB is supposed to be F2P on release and making mercs locked by then will be the killing blow as anyone can imagine. So what you are paying for right now is the ability to exclusively test certain mercs, a.k.a. they have to make some money off of it right now. It’s most likely going to change after beta. While I can’t say I’d support this reasoning myself, it’s the only sensible one that comes to my mind.

Do you have a source for that ?

You’re saying i spent 20€ and my characters will be locked when the game is released ?

Sorry if i didn’t understood you well, english is not my native language.

No, they’re not gonna take away your mercs. You’re not only paying for exclusive testing, that would be retarded.

Ok that’s what i thought

@humbag they will be adding in more mercs than currently

We all know that but that doesn’t change the current pricing, nor can we extrapolate the future pricing (there will be more bundles, etc). Of course being an early adopter and buying everything as soon as it comes out will add up, but that is always the “premium” tier for those who can afford to support the development.

The reality is that current pricing is 30 bucks for all the content you can buy, and that’s dirt cheap for F2P and AAA.
