Pricing

At its current pricing, it will cost around $160 for ALL the mercs in USD that is like purchasing four AAA games that have just been released.

Or 720,000 credits which at an avg of 150 credits for a 10 minute obj, relates to 4800 games. 4800 games at 10 minutes a pop is 48,000 minutes or 800 hours.

It might just be me but I believe 800 hours or $160 is a little much for 19 mercs in a f2p game. You will lose your whole fan-base except for those which have no lives, or have large sums of cash to throw at a game. You’re only argument could be your f2p model and you are trying to ear money or you don’t want the players to get bored. If your community gets bored because they have all the mercs that’s more of an underlying issue with the game not the mercs pricing. Look at t2f arguably the most successful f2p game out there and they have had the same 9 classes since its release 8 years ago.

If you want to make money just let nexon do what they do best and rape our wallets with cool gear. Just make them cosmetic only no better stats because no-body likes p2w. And make it something like $30 for all the mercs like in a bundle.

All in all get your **** together SD.

do all sofa kings multipost to look important or do they just forget they already posted ?

(milkymac) #3

Posted it in the wrong section, already asked a mod to delete that one so it should be taken care of. Thanks for your concern.

It’s already $20 for most of the mercs, one more can almost immediately be unlocked. This leaves one, so about $30 to unlock all current mercs.

How do you know that there will not be more bundles like that, especially when they have already said that there WILL be more bundles and options?

It’s also super helpful to ignore daily missions in your playtime calculations. It takes about a week to unlock a 50k merc at moderate play time, two to three weeks at most. The average player will probably go for a combination of unlocking and buying content.

I really don’t get the point of posts like this. Do you really think you can pressure them into reducing their prices with exaggerations? If you find the game too expensive, then just say so and move on.

I don’t know what your definition of moderate playtime is if you get 50k a week.

Besides the fact that an FPS “AAA” game not necessarily has to be a good game and AAA actually means High-Budget not high rating, you usually play these games - if single-played - for 10 to 20 hours. What brings us to the amount of time played:
I alread played DB over 100 hours now and im sure it will be much more. I respect the work done and see the money spent for the starter-pack as the minimum amount rewarding this and as a fair charge for hundreds of hours of fun.
Would that game be a retail-game as Quake Wars or Brink, I would have bought it, probably for more than i spent now.
Why is it so, that as soon as something is free in its basic architecture, some people expect the full comfort package for free also?
Would you complain about pricing, if it came as retail-game for 50 € / $ ?
This is not a game for broad public and it sure will not have a revenue like GTA, consider that.
It’s quite a few people working on this for a couple of years before there is any revenue at all.
And where by the way do you see the “play-to-win”-factor?

I don’t either because I didn’t keep track, but I know that it was not all that much more than doing the daily missions (a few of the days I had some missions buffered up, but I caught up eventually). I am about level 11 or 12 now and there are lots of players with much higher levels, so it can’t be that unusual. I don’t know if it was a week exactly, but I know it was less than two weeks and I collected the last 20k in about three days. I also did do a few trade-ups in-between.

I was actually really surprised myself how quickly the credits accumulated, which is the only reason I even bothered saving up. Before that I assumed I would just buy what I want and use credits for other things.

I remember F2P FPS where it would take months to unlock anything meaningfully new, and then I’d still be far from unlocking everything. Dirty Bomb feels like such a fresh breeze in that sense, that I find it really difficult to sympathise with the complaints.

Steam has hours program is running.

edit: I’ve got 36-40k in the last 4 weeks. Level 8.

Mercs need more than 1 ability if they are going to cost what they currently cost. I’ll be sad if the 6* cut mercs all cost $10 and mercs/classes remain as limited as they are.

*just talking about the ones that’s existence I know isn’t under nda.

Moba pricing strategies

HotS uses actual money
http://heroesofthestorm.gamepedia.com/Hero_Prices?cookieSetup=true

You buy RP points for LoL, IP is like in-game credits earned through play.
http://na.leagueoflegends.com/en/community/prepaid-cards

Pricing guide here but here’s a list of champions and their RP cost but looks around $5 - $8 for them http://www.lolking.net/champions/

.New champion launch price is… 7800 IP / 975 RP
.After one week, the price is reduced to… 6300 IP / 975 RP
.Each release, the oldest 6300 is reduced to… 4800 IP / 880 RP
.Each third release, an additional 4800 IP or lower champion is reduced to one of the remaining tiers…
–3150 IP / 790 RP
–1350 IP / 585 RP
–450 IP / 260 RP

Smite seems the cheapest per god (merc), £10.50 for 800 gems and each god costs 200 gems but I believe you need to purchase their add-ons, weapons etc. for like 50 - 80 gems per pop. They do the Ultimate God Pack where you get all current gods and all future releases for a one off £20.99, but they sell consumables and stuff as well, potions and ****.

If it’s compared to TF2, as Brink was, the business model won’t compare favorably.

(LiNkzr) #11

I don’t mind mercs costing 10 euros or 10 usd or waht ever as long as you can reasonably do missions / earn credits while playing. or someother god knows what activities to earn more credits.

(Protekt1) #12

Someone doesn’t get how f2p works. You don’t pay for all the content and you don’t need to earn all the content to enjoy the game.

(BioSnark) #13

That depends on the game/dev/publisher since it definitely can mean that.
