Looks really interesting, drakir. I will watch this project closely. It is my opinion that the mapping community will be critical to the success of Enemy Territory, and somehow we will have to convince leagues to be more accepting of community made maps.

Anyhow, I really like what you have done so far. Good luck.

Nice work, you are very talented, If you ever need a place to try out your maps let me know…we run 2 servers, 1 20 slot and 1 40 slot, we play in TWL and would jump at a chance to play one of your maps…

mmmm just wait for me to texture my map

I’m glad server admin people are willing to try out community maps. This has always been the greatest failing of most other games, to ignore the community mappers and just play the original maps to death.

Oddly enough I saw a Rhine map being played on a server about two weeks ago and went on a rampage trying to find any information I could, to no avail. From what you’ve posted the map looks to have potential… keep up the good work!

(LegoManser) #7

Hi Drakir. Your map cought my interest and I have set up a small small preview at Deadllama’s Enemy Territory section. Just for promotion. Any chance I could get some more exclusives to post?

2 questions
ARE YOU ON CRACK?
when are there palm trees in germany?

Maybe when the time comes, Splash Damage could compile some of their favourite community made maps/campaigns as part of an official release?

I’m sure Savage could try some custom maps out on their servers in the near future. Pop into #savage.et on quakenet sometime.

Aye, the current maps aren’t all that great for league based gaming IMHO, and given there’s only 6 of them it means an 8 clan division would require repeating one of the maps. So I suspect we’ll be looking to use customs to bulk out the map list.

(bogs) #11

i cant wait to try it drakir. im hurtin’ for a new map.

(Drakir) #12

Yup i am always on crack :-D, the palmtrees are going to be gone as soon as i get the map-models from SD with the tools.
The map started out as a desert theme but have over time went over to a Belgium theme not Germany. The brown dusty ground will also go away when i can get my hands on the models for the grass sprites/models that covers the ground.

(Drakir) #13

I have tested it with friends on a server for a while now. But as the map aint finnished whe dont allow download on that server.

Nice work so far!!

As soon as some custom maps start rolling out I’ll run them on my server. I run a custom map server now for RtCW. Unfortunatally going over my bandwidth limitations is not a problem, but I love custom maps. People just don’t really play them :frowning:

I’ll probably just start another server for ET custom maps when the time comes and keep them both running.

For the time being if you want custom RtCW maps: 66.165.90.59:27960

Keep me/us posted on your work!

I think the bit flowers (palms) and the bridge need some tweaking. The other shots are very nice.

(Drakir) #16

As i said in a earlier post the palms are going to be gone when i get the map models.

I have put up 3 new shots, showing the bridge in it´s full state.

Nice work!

One minor thing though, I don’t know how realistic this map is supposed to be but the Rhine doesn’t flow through Belgium.

(Dawg) #18

Maybe its a themed mini-golf course!

Actually, that sounds more like a map that Hummer might make.

This is the most awesome looking map ever !
First of all, the trenches are what I miss most from original RTCW and they look great!
Then the bridge, it’s grid structure gives it a entirely new charm, from the simple and dull bridges we’ve seen so far this is a great improvement!
And then the teamdoor… beeing not solid but a grid, one can already look through and see if the incoming friend (hehe) has an enemy engineer in the tow line and shoot him if he has, fantastic!

With all respect, I can hardly await playing this map and I fortell it will become one of the most-played when it’s out. Keep up the good work!

My misstake, dont know where i got that from. That Rhine runs through Belgium. Probably because i was reading up on bridges and other wars in that area and somehow got mixed up on the Rhine bridge part.
the bridge and war i was thinking about was the battle at the railroad bridge in Remagen, but Remagen is a German city. I will correct that in my mind tnx for noticing it!
