You can have a FREE website with 100mb of upload or you can pay around $5.00 US for more space and more features. It is very easy to use and I use them for my website / forums for our clan. You can upload different background, headers and even change your theme for the entire website.
The only catch is in the name of the website. If you want a free domain name you have this…

Example :- Does not work… http://www.Yoursitename.spruz.com/

But if you pay you have the .spruz removed. At the current time we have a free site and I’m not sure if I can post the link here to show you. But I hope this helps??

I have my own VPS, got my own reseller account on domains so that’s not the problem.
Also this hole topic is totally the way I didn’t wanted it too go.

I havent’had anyone talking about the idea itself, comment or people that can help.

well it’s a pity the SDU website hasn’t been updated for quite a while now. As your new project seems quite the same as SDU combined with a sort of wolfmap.de touch to it, I silently hope you will endure this time to keep updating your new project (when it’s launched).

It’s looking great on ‘paper’, but are you sure you’ll be able to keep all of that information up to date all the time? It seems very ambitious and such pages are always welcome, though.
It seems a lot of work for one man, just like SDU; and as you said: school and other time consuming elements are always there to take the attention (which is normal, school still is very important) .

I like the idea, but I’m a bit afraid it will get lost in the background after a certain amount of time.

When this site is finished, it will take over the functions from SDU too, so I hope people can help with that because like you said already I can’t handle it all alone.

About up 2 date information, one lucky for me, a released map stays released. And mapping stays the same too.

site looks boring tbh. I think you’re trying to go by the ‘kiss’ principal (keep it simple stupid) but I just am not feeling it. i think it’s too clustered you need some space between information.

Also why would you have a login for public information? Maybe for people that login and add info or w/e but then just put that in a small link somewhere like the admin login for phpBB forums or just think of something for it.

as ive already wrote … i had the same idea a few month ago … so thats why ive got some et-related domains for my (several) projects … but i can say there isnt really a need for a new “copy” of already excisting sources/sites …

ive tried to realize a mapping-community … so every mapper can be a part of it … some kind of adminrights for all registered mappers … so they can air their own project with tons of screenshots and movies (and so on) … own gameserver for the community for testing and gameplay … so if you gonna start to create a new clone = youre wasting your time … you have to create something totally new to the et-community … i had 70% of my community finished … so just some codingstuff was needed/left … but now its hiding at one of my hdd’s … maybe i will go ahead with my own project … maybe not xD

I think its a really good idea for a site if it was in the format in the screenshots.
Lots of detail. easy on the eye. ok Its already been done but this could be better.

With just one little problem. The amount of work your suggesting would be huge and no easy task.
Even with a small army of helpers you would not finish at the date you suggest.
I think you had already mentioned time issues as reasons for not updating sdu.
If you cant occaisonnally update that then you will struggle with this.

I think you seriously need to take a moment and work out exactly what you need to do and how much time you can spare.
And in the end wether its worth it. As you have no garauntee anyone will use it.
I dont think you can expect anyone to help if there is no real focus and only enthusiasm. phew big word. must lie down.

imo focus on sdu. its different and unique. also it can grow in time and improve.

Like i have talked to you by xfire Paul i have tried that some months ago but i will say to you its very hard to put everything update right now, i have uploaded all the maps/mods/skins/soundpacks and others stuffs from my site but to add then for download is a massive work, i dont think you will have patience to do that is a very very hard work, i added 300 maps in my website like youre trying to add with pics and info included in maps, but think, have almost 1000 maps around, and it takes ages to add the infos, if you can get everything update in your website i think will be easy to keep it update.
Think about ET has more then 3000 files around in the net, and that isnt correct, im based in the backup i have. So try to find some guys to help you.
Its just my opinion.

My suggestion would be don’t work all alone. Add something by which people can submit maps and other stuff.

With time you will give up but if it will have options by which you can submit new downloads, articles, tutorials, etc… it will be easy and people will help with time.
