Preserve player nick ?

(asmo) #1

Hi,

So, i’m wondering how it will be with registering player name in Brink ?

Will it be: Brink gets released and who buy first, choose the nick first ?

or ?

last time (in ETQW) i was not fast enough, this time i can’t fail :stuck_out_tongue:

don’t tell me you don’t know !

I can’t remember if it’s ranked or not? If not then there’s no need to nicks to be locked. Every account (Steam/PSN/XBLive) has an ID number, so surely the ID number is enough to keep duplicates under wraps, so players should be able to be called whatever they want?

(asmo) #4

i dont know either. but if it is ranked ?

Most likely your steam name will also be your nickname in Brink

(MatthiasK75) #6

i guess youre pc? every ps3 game i’ve played your PSN is your name online

(LyndonL) #7

…And like I said elsewhere, I really hope they don’t follow suit with MW2 with colours in the names… My GOD MW2 players have ugly Steam names…

Who is Nick?

I’m kidding.

(Diablo85) #9

Quake engine games always allow colored names so don’t be surprised if its included.

W:T had colored names and it rocked. So I hope you can have colored name, cuz they look cool if you do it the right way, plus I loved pissing off valve morons with my name.

yeh, i;m talking about PC version and tbh noone of you answered yet my question.

hey SD, you wont answer my Linux Port question and i understand, how about this one ?

if i have to play with some odd prefix to my nick AGAIN (like it was in ETQW) i … i… i don’t know what i will do…

let me know :wink:

I really don’t see a prob with names. Take something simple and nobody will steal it.

(daz2007) #13

i hate the idea of registering names

For Example, When i bought my PS3, it took me over an hour to find a nickname that wasn’t already taken, don’t get me started with Xbox Live and EA

People should be able to use any name they want like in W:ET

Your ingame nick in Brink will most likely be your steam’s username, like it’s in tf2.

I believe I read somewhere about naming our characters, this name wont be for display in-game?

If we can name them and the name is not for show… Then why can we do it? o_O

(DarkangelUK) #16

In the gameplay footage, the players had team mates above their heads… and it also says “player was killed by player” in the obits.

That is the name of your character, so you can quickly identify which char to use when changing them in the command post.

(LyndonL) #18

Not command post (can’t change characters mid match) but prior to the game starting.

(Bullveyr) #19

Allthough I don’t really bother because my nick is pretty unique I would hope for non-registered nicks.

(LyndonL) #20

Like I said earlier… I don’t care about colour whether it’s in or not, so long as the colour commands aren’t part of the STEAM name since that looks beyond retarded in your friends list.
