Preorder Items

You can see them all here: http://g4tv.com/thefeed/blog/post/706914/Exclusive-Pre-Order-Items-For-Brink-Announced-At-QuakeCon-2010.html

Now, before you start screaming “repost”, that is not the main point of this topic. I am concerned about the bonuses for Amazon and Steam. Two weapons that could have been in the game for everyone are now locked off. This wouldn’t be a problem if it was say, one gun for getting a limited edition of the game. Having two however, especially for different sellers preorders is a bit much. Plus, those two preorders also get a completely unique mask. The other two only get reskinned hats, shirts, weapons, and the only unique design is the tattoo. It seems like the first two actually serve a purpose, while the last two are purely for nostalgia. I mean the first two even get unique attachments! Honestly, I think the best solution is to include all of the preorder items in a limited edition of the game, if they have one, and then throw in something else that is physical, such as a figure or an art book(Which would look really cool for Brink). That, or somewhere down the line, at least release the weapons.

Sorry if this sounds too much like a rant, but I just don’t get how these could be seen as equal. Overall, the game looks amazing, and I am looking forward to it in Spring 2011. Now I will just have to switch my preorder because I couldn’t care less about doom tees and skins…

Who’s to say everything won’t be available later as DLC anyway…

That would be nice, but by the way Wedgewood was referring to it, he made it seem like they were things to show you were one of the first to get the game, thus having them as DLC would defeat the purpose.

i am more interested to know if the new weapons/scopes/silencers have the same stats as weapons you can unlock in the game anyway

as a game where balance is going to be important, i would say that they would have the same stats as other weapons. grave mistake otherwise.

that said, i’m getting spec ops… but i really like those silencers from the psycho set…

I originally preordered from Gamestop, just because it’s convenient, but when I learned of how it’s bonuses stacked up, I had to choose between Specops and Psycho. Seeing as I couldn’t care less about Doom, and while Fallout is cool, I don’t care about weapons skins and beanies, it was narrowed down to them. It all came down to how unique each one seemed, and my playstyle. I always liked revolvers, and I remember seeing something similar to the Specops mask, I went with that. Now I just have to go to Gamestop, cancel the preorder, put in an order on Amazon, and pray that the delivery doesn’t ***** up. Anyways, I’m getting Psycho, but I really like that Gun from Specops.

i really like the gun from the psycho kit, but being in new zealand i am forced to only be able to get specops from steam. machine pistol + scope is nice, but revolvers are definitely my thing. let’s just hope unlockable silencers and revolvers are just as cool as the preorder ones, ha.

I’m pretty sure we’ll find out the differences are entirely cosmetic

same, either that, or a negligible difference, or the weapon is outclassed by a later unlock. i’m hoping for the first.

Cant we just have one preorder stuffs thread once and for all? My “new threads” marks are polluted with these!

Oh and yeah : me think preorder bonuses are stupid as hell, I would rather some limited edition.

Peace
