Pre-order problems?

(SentencedToBurn) #1

Alright, so I’m pretty sure just about EVERYBODY who is going to buy this game has already pre-ordered it. Well, everyone except me, that is.

First off, I think all the bonus-packs look pretty cool, but from day one I’ve had my eye on the Spec-Ops pack, and I can only get this by pre-ordering from WalMart.

Unfortunately, we’re 4 days away from launch and my local WalMart (along with several other locations across Canada, I found out) has STILL yet to recieve their “pre-order cards”.
I’ve always hated WalMart, and the only reason I insist on buying the game there is for the Spec-Ops pack… But honestly, get with the times. EB Games/GameStop, Best Buy and FutureShop ALL do pre-orders VIA computer (the smart way to do it), But WalMart still insists on using pre-order “cards” which you must purchase in-store (And even then, you have to show up on release day with your reciept, as well!)

Anyways, I was there the other day asking an associate if he could check in the back to see if they had recieved the cards yet, and he came back about 5 minutes later and told me that while they already had 100 copies of the ACTUAL GAME for ps3 and xbox each, they STILL weren’t taking pre-orders for it. They basically told me that I will have to show up on launch day, and hope that I get lucky enough to snag a copy, since it’s going to end up being “first-come, first-serve”.

Anyone know if I’ll still get the pre-order “bonus” even though I wasn’t ACTUALLY able to pre-order? I’m assuming it’s going to be a redeemable code included in the game case, as is customary with most games. Hopefully so, because I really want that Hockler pistol.

Has anyone else had trouble with pre-ordering BRINK from WalMart, or any other store for that matter? I’d be curious to know.

Four days, gentlemen. Four longgggggg days.

in the UK we are lucky. because there is no walmart, we get Spec ops and another pre order with a pre order in GAME. but i would take it somewhere else dude, its risky.

Can’t order from the WalMart stores in the States. Had to order from their website, even though there are two 24 hour WalMarts within a 10 min drive from my home.

(Shadedluck) #4

You can preorder it from Steam to get the Spec Ops pack, just so you know. But yeah, Walmart offers preorders online, but they get delivered to you, although they do offer Release Day Delivery. But yeah, if you don’t want to buy it from walmart, you can get it on Steam. Also, the codes SHOULD be in the box. I remember all the others had them in the box, so I don’t see why Walmart wouldn’t do the same.

As much as I hate GameStop, they are still doing preorders and giving out the bonus codes.

I wanted the Spec Ops pack from Walmart pre-order, so after 9 e-mails, and 3 phone calls to customer service, they still aren’t going to give me release date shipping to my house even though they guarantee on their website.

What they are doing, is giving me a 10 dollar credit. So essentially I paid 40 bucks for brink and an extra 10 for the e-gift card they offer with the pre-order. I doubt I’ll get it on release date (which is sad indeed) but I’ll take the partial refund as compensation.

I seriously wanted to beat my head against a large metal object though while I was dealing with Walmart’s customer service. Worst experience ever. I will never order anything from Walmart again.

I had about the same luck with their customer service… pretty ****ty indeed.

I wasn’t aware that the States were having just as much trouble with pre-ordering as Canada is… You’d think they’d release some info or something as to why all this happened?

Ah well, I guess I’ll just have to camp outside like a ****in’ no-life game-dork just so I can get a copy on day 1… God I hope nobody I know sees me.

Thanks alot, WalMart. Your dick ===> my ass. ****ed again.

Also, pardon my french. I can see that most of the swear-words I posted have been filtered, leading me to believe that swearing is frowned upon in these forums…

My bad.

yes, we’re a civilised lot

sarcasm, on the other hand, is highly rated

On the upside, supposedly my shipment isn’t supposed to be here til the 17th-19th. I was upset about this, but they gave me 10 bucks off the order so I said fair enough.

I just received an e-mail from Walmart notifying me that my shipment is in transit, and fedex tracking states it will be, at my house, on the 10th by 4:30 PM. Even though my order on the Walmart.com website says 17th-19th, something magical has happened, and I will be getting release date shipping.

I am going to kiss that damn FedEx guy if I catch him. In a non-homo way.

EDIT: Btw, I’m super happy. Now if the PSN is down by Tuesday I’m going to be super depressed. SUPER.

(SentencedToBurn) #11

Look on the bright side, they designed the game to be a seamless experience online AND offline; I’m sure it’ll still be loads of fun. Besides, you can work on the challenges and beef up your character for when the PSN comes back.

(SentencedToBurn) #12

I want it for the 360, not the PC. just to clarify. thanks though, I was looking for some info on how the bonus-content is going to work.

(RadBrad31) #13

Depends on the distributer I believe. If you order it online sometimes they e-mail you the code. In other cases, it will come in the package on a slip of paper. In store, it’s almost always in the package, or on the receipt.

Judging by the amount of times you have posted this. I’d say you’re pretty proud of it

hmm… well my local WalMart is in the process of expanding, so as of this moment it’s open 7AM-11PM… I think I’ll call today and check if they’re planning any sort of midnight-release of the game (although I seriously doubt this, as they probably couldn’t be bothered to open the entire store and risk letting customers wander around aimlessly just for one department’s promotional event); besides the fact that all the employees seem to have no idea about anything that goes on at their own place of business. It’s as if they’re completely out-of-the-loop with everything (which begs the question, why pay them if they don’t actually provide a service?).

My best guess is that there’s a 7AM lineup with my name on it.

I always knew it would come to this…

One of the key survival mechanisms in cultural wastelands such as the one I reside in is a healthy sense of sarcasm and internet access.

The funny thing is, aside from those two WalMarts, the 7Eleven and the fast food drive-thru lanes, nothing is 24/7. Everything else shuts down at 9 PM.

(DazTroyer) #17

I don’t usually pre order and Gamestation usually sell these types of bonus games on day one with no problems.

(KnollDark) #18

I didn’t know Walmart was so ****ty in Canada, its good on the other side of your southern border

(SentencedToBurn) #19

Well, I just got off the phone with Wally-World and (as usual) the sales rep I was speaking to seemed to be completely out-of-the-loop on even the slightest bit of information on whether or not they were releasing at midnight… Which basically means NO.

God I hate WalMart. It’s like they’ll just slap a blue vest on any random asshole these days and let them wander around the store for eight hours with absolutely no idea how to do their job, and pay them $10.50 an hour to do so.

He said that “We don’t have our pre-order cards in so I’m not sure when we’ll be getting them…”… which is retarded, because he said “WHEN we’ll be getting them” as if it matters at this point. I swear to god it’s the most disorganized and un-coordinated store I’ve ever been to. Know what it reminds me of? That episode of King of the Hill where Hank goes to the Mega-Lo-Mart to buy a replacement U-bend pipe, and the kid stands there telling him that pipes are only straight.

Anyways, this means I’ll definitely be waiting outside the door at 7AM on the 10th… so I can go in, buy my copy, go home, throw it on my table then immediately go to work for 10 hours.

Thanks WalMart, you really know how to keep your customers happy.

If walmart wants to get in on the video game business, they really need at least 1-2 video game specialists per store. People that work in the electronics department that keep up on the latest game news. Otherwise, stay the hell out of the water, it’s just pissing people off. I feel your pain Sentenced, and I’m never going through walmart for anything video game related again.
