Pre-order DLC Now Available for Purchase

(iezza) #121
Wait, let me see if i get this straight…you bought the special edition for extra money, and your special edition came with TWO pre-order bonuses. But now, those 2 pre order bonuses have been separated into two different ‘bundles’ in XBL marketplace? So for you to get all four POB (pre-order bonus) you need to buy buy both bundles, in which case you are re-buying 2 POB that you already own and the other 2 you don’t own?

If i got this right, then you, sir, have every damn right to be upset about it. and not only that, but i can say with confidence that they did that on purpose to force players to spend more money. And i for one find that extremely abusive to players, as they are trying to get every last penny they can from players like you. I feel for you…

EDIT:
on a side note, I’m glad that they are selling these POB, just not with the way they are doing it. I think when it comes to MP games, everyone should be accessible to all the items equally. And I feel that it is extremely childish of anyone to have that mentality that “i want to be the only one with POB. no one else deserves it only me!!”
correctly said sir.

A new story entry has been added:

[drupal=860]Brink Customisation Packs Now Available[/drupal]

As pointed out over on the Bethesda blog, the Doom/Psycho and Fallout/Spec-Ops customisation bundle packs for Brink are available now. The bundles contain content that was previously available as part of the pre-order packs, including the lovely, sack-headed gentleman in the screenshot above, and can be found on Xbox Live Marketplace, in the PlayStation Store, and on Steam right now. If you don’t have access to your console or your Steam client at the moment, you can also buy them at the links below:

You should reread the news for wrong chars

(badman) #124

Think I got most of them. ;o Character encoding ftl.

(TONSCHUH) #125

… bought both, even that I already had the DOOM-Pack … AU$ 3.91 is ok … :penguin:

(Verticae) #126

I might pick them up once the weapon tweaks are implemented.

(light_sh4v0r) #127

So which one has this infamous greeneye?

(FireWorks) #128

The spec ops, its bundled with the Fallout

(zenstar) #129

If you’re just buying it for the greeneye then don’t get your hopes up. It’s effectiveness has been blown out of proportion IMO.
I don’t use it at all.

Like everything else, isn’t it just cosmetic?

(wolfnemesis75) #131

Most of my friends bought the DLC within minutes regardless of what pre-orders they already had. Half the fun is having all the bling.

(FireWorks) #132

It think it is actually very useful. This thing is not cosmetics alone, its a coga with surround view, which is very nice. But the greatest bonus of all is the very fast equip speed. I changed all my red dots against it

(zenstar) #133

There’s a slight difference. It’s the only item that wasn’t purely cosmetic.
IMO it covers up too much of the center of the screen with scope. Sure you get some peripheral vision but you lose important vision around your target as a tradeoff.
There was a screenshot comparing the 2 (coga v greeneye) somewhere in one of the dlc threads but I can’t find it atm.

It’s not just coga + peripheral. It’s coga + peripheral - a big chunk of screen because the body of the scope is chunky.
/shrug. I guess if you like it’s cool. I think it looks nice but it’s horrible to use, but then that’'s purely a “preffered taste” thing.

(thesuzukimethod) #134

It (GE) is great for weapons that you truly use at range, where you focus on a relatively distant (choke)point, and it’s nice to have the peripheral awareness…e.g. AR’s and particularly the rokstedi.

It also works pretty well if you chain some medium range duels together and you dont mind running and ADS back and forth (the bit of zoom helps with headshots)

The chunkiness of the view is definitely a little annoying in closer/intermediate range engagements.

The bigger problem is the zoom+peripheral makes it feasible on just about any gun, but it gives you the sense that guns you’ve put it on are more accurate than they actually are, especially on guns that dont benefit from ADS (and have a big spread that dont necessarily hit on that nice zoomed in plus in the scope)

“Customisation Packs”… seriously?

Just sad,
JJ

EDIT:

The other half of the fun is having bling that only a select few have access to.

(BROTOX) #136

Downloaded both packs. Not really into the shirts or bandanas but I like the beanies and the grin mask. Having the extra sidearms is useful too but the coveted greeneye is the most prized. It’s not exactly what I expected (green tint) and I think I might like the coga better for long range. That and I finally beat be more objective two star so now I can say I have everything. Hooray! I also love having two versions of the buldpan and the carb to spec out differently. Anyway, I just want to say it is a good day for all Brink players and hopefully we will see more DLC as a result of SD’s recent income. We need more RESISTANCE maps!

(dabis) #138

This feels like a real kick in the nads to those of us who paid about $65 for the game at release, as the only bonus we got was our 1 pre-order pack, while the rest of the people who bought it later for $35 can now buy them all and still pay less than those who pre-ordered the game and had to put up with the poor excuse of a game Brink was before the release bugs were fixed. I’m never buying a new SD game again if this is how they treat those that have faith in them on release day.

(iezza) #139

AND i payed £3 extra for my 2!

(dabis) #140

They should have just given all the packs to those who pre-ordered for free since they are the people being screwed by this. I have already paid ~$20 more than anyone who has bought the game since the large price drop, I’m not about to go spending over $70 total on a game that can barely aattract enough players to stay alive. I was tempted to use the remainder of $20 worth of Microsoft points that I spent $15 worth on the new blops zombies maps, but I just can’t justify giving SD any more of my money the way they have treated me, so I bought a few Beatles rock band songs instead
