pre order bonuses

(frothypooter) #1

can i purchase pre order bonuses here in the US and if not then you guys should make dlc of them por favor.

(BiigDaddyDellta) #2

Why would they do that? then the pre order fans would be reneged on what they payed for? I don’t think so.

(wolfnemesis75) #3

I still feel that the pre order bonus should not be sold as DLC. They were part of the pre order incentive. I’d rather have unlockable content going forward that requires meeting high parameters of exp or team contributions.

I want a “nail 100 human players in 60 minutes” achievment or
“1 nade and 8 players, impressive!” or
“5kills in 5 seconds! wipe out!”

That would be good stuff

Or easier things like:
“Cover me! You killed 10 players while the objective dude was working”
“STAND UP AND FIGHT!!! You revived 8 players while the objective dude was working”
or mixing it like 5 revives and 5kills

All kills on humans of course.

Though that might lead to purposly unbalanced teams… ah forget it.

I have to agree with you, but it is what a lot of other games out there wind up doing. A few months after release all the pre-order stuff is put up for sale. Kinda lame part of the reason I rarely pre-order in certain genres of games.

(RGS) #6

Actually I think they should sell this stuff. I hate all these silly retailer specific bonuses, it means no one (even those like me that did get a SE version, Doom + Spec Ops btw) can’t ever get a truly ‘complete’ game - Hence all this code selling rubbish on eBay.

I think it’s more than fair to release this stuff a while after the game’s launch.

CA did a really nice job of this with Empire:Total War - When they chose to release the SE units and retailer specific stuff all owners of the Special Edition (such as myself) got all the retailer specific pre-order units for free. Everyone else had the chance to buy them + the SE units as a DLC pack.

(We’re still waiting for this to happen with Napoleon:TW + it sucks that there are units out there that I simply can’t get, despite even being happy to pay for them!)

(BiigDaddyDellta) #7

I have a complete game, because I bought them all. soo… yeah all the code selling rubbish works doesn’t it now?

@BiigDaddyDellta

And you think that that’s a good way to go? To have to pay over the odds on eBay or pick up multiple copies of the game if you want the lot? I’m not saying it’s not possible, just that IMO that’s not a good way to go about things.

Not to mention that you might not even be able to find what you want for sale unless you pre-order multiple copies.

I’m happy with a cosmetic thing being pre-order as a thank you for people pre-ordering. What I don’t like is the whole “to collect all the preorder bonuses you need to buy the game 15 times from 15 different shops”.
I know it makes it tasty when it comes to making deals with distributors but it sucks. If you’re going to go that route then sell the damn things because that’s what’s really happening. It’s not a preorder bonus anymore, it’s pre-day 1 dlc. Especially when places like GAME charged extra for preorders with codes (effectively selling you the codes).

(RGS) #10

So just sell the stuff as DLC six months after launch for those with the regular edition and give all the content to pre-order + SE owners for free (as CA did) - That seems like a good deal to me for all parties.

I do care about the cosmetic stuff too - IMO it shouldn’t be like this in order to get all the content (multiple copies and eBay).

(MrFoxer) #11

I think they should sell it, it’s not fair for those items to be a one time exclusive thing. I never even thought about getting brink until after it was released. RDR preorder dlc was released later by rockstar. So why doesn’t SD do that?

(Jimmy James) #12

I think selling preorder bonuses post release would just kill the preorder market and I don’t think game companies want that to happen.

What he said.

At the end of the day though that’s to the advantage of the retailer and possibly developer (though possibly not as they could make more money by selling the DLC later…), it’s not really in the interest of the customer though IMO.

I really feel that 6 months is long enough of an ‘advantage’ for the pre-order guys. It’s not like others would now be getting this content for free after all. I didn’t get Brink at launch (got the SE recently from GAME), but certainly have pre-ordered the SEs of the last three Total War games and have never felt cheated at the release of the extra units, rather I’m happy that others now have the chance to also PAY for that content. Plus as I say, without that I’d not have been able to get those extra retailer specific units myself (for free too!) + quite frankly I want the lot!

I actually like Special Editions offering extra game content myself (though not extra cheap plastic figurines etc, personally). But just because I tend to get these editions I don’t feel others should then not be allowed to PAY for the content at a suitably later date.

The retailer specific stuff is the worst IMO and not really good for anybody.

(FrankieGodskin) #14

How’s that? I got my pre-order DLC free with my purchase. I don’t care if they offer it to everyone else as DLC. In fact, everyone should have the chance to use the Green Eye scope, because it’s the only scope I use–and it’s AMAZING.

(nephandys) #15

I wouldn’t mind having the opportunity to pick that item up in particular.

(AmishWarMachine) #16

Having each pre-order pack as a purchasable DLC ($2-$3 USD) would be fine by me. It still gives those who pre-ordered the advantage of getting their particular pack for free with the original purchase, and still gives those that didn’t an opportunity at the skins/weapons/add-ons.

From the sounds of pretty much everyone who has it, the green-eye is by far and away the best add-on item of the 4… and I am the opinion that it’s not entirely fair that one particular retailer pre-order outguns all the others.

(Tandem) #17

I pre-ordered but I didn’t get any bonuses.
Could you list them?

(thesuzukimethod) #18

(RGS) #19

Yeah, I use the Green Eye scope on the Barnett, really nice.

(felismenari) #20

That’s all well and dandy, unless of course the items in question happen to affect PvP gameplay. I believe the Greeneye scope is the only one, but it’s still one more than there should be. It should have been made part of the game to begin with, or there should be an equivalent put in to match its design.
