"Pre-Order" Beta invites

(Sssaap) #21

Szakalot - I hear you…
I find the attitude of some just strange. Basically most of the players just call it ‘beta’ nowadays, because it implies that you get to see the product prior release as something unfinished(which they often do now realise after all).

There is simply so few people left who actualy primarily contribute to the editing of a product simply because they want it to be successful and improved whilst getting to see the product up front as second, as some sort of gratification.

I might find the time, but definitely the will

Still IF there’s going to be a beta it definitely should be a closed one with a proper selection process.
I can see you have some serious issues if waiting for few days troubles you so much, guess them few days means you wont be at top of online stats rankings or something silly like that or you wont get xbox points or whatever before other people.

I only got batman two weeks ago for £10 brand new, how much did you pay to try play on release day?

I’ll definitely be waiting for a demo before I think about buying Brink.
wtf are you talking about shit like stats and xbox points? there is a number of good games coming out per year, and you can count that number on one hand. if there’s a quality game, then i want it when it’s available and not being delayed by some stupid mailing service. once i had to wait 1 month for a game because my parcel got lost.

for arkham asylum i paid 40 euro on amazon, and i would have paid the 50 euro that it cost in the shop in order to play it on the launch weekend. i don’t give a shit about how much a game costs. if it’s worth it, i’ll gladly pay the price.

and i’ll buy brink no matter what.

I would pre-order for a beta. Plus considering some of us live in remote locations of the world… its the fastest way to get a game :D.

(Asasello) #24

Oh… im doing one of the first (or first) Polish Brink site and the beta will give me a lot of materials onto forum and site. Pleease, chooose mee xd !

(GlobalWar) #25

If there will be somekind of closed beta and you are in it, I have three letters for you: N D A

(GlobalWar) #26

May I call you bluff?

I will not pre-order for the same reason as Joe999. The risk of not being able to play the game on release day is way to big. I will bribe the shop owner and make sure I’ll have the game BEFORE the release day.

Every pre-order I did so far was somehow delayed, so while my friends where having fun with the new toy I had…old games…

(DarkangelUK) #27

Yes, that’s the perfect reason NOT to include you in the beta…

I can’t speak for Chris, but you can call mine, if you like.

I’m increasingly of the opinion that I’m so far outside the target market for Brink that I might not (shock horror) actually like the game.

It seems fairly apparent by now that SD have very definite ideas for how they want this game to play, and pretty much all of the ones I’ve heard are pretty much exactly how I wouldn’t want them to be.

It’s possible that the game will still pwn my face so much that I will enjoy it, of course, which is why I will put some effort into trying a demo. I will not, however, pre-order a game so full of design decisions I consider dubious.

For the same reasons, it’s probably for the best if I’m not involved in any sort of pre-release beta; it’s likely that all the feedback from me will be about things SD specifically decided against - “The movement is too slow”, “I should be able to change bodytypes during a match”, “I should be able to preselect my tools”, “I should be able to look around whilst performing an objective”, “Why do I need 23947564654 buttons on my mouse?”.

If it turns out that the game sucks, but the engine and SDK are good enough, I’ll perhaps be convinced by a dedicated enough mod team and supporting community to help them turn the game into something I’d enjoy. All of that means waiting until the actual game is here, though. I’ve got no intention of getting involved in another Wolfenstein 2009.

As I say I can’t speak for Chris, but he probably feels similarly.

Pretty much yeah.

(INF3RN0) #30

I kind of feel the same way on a lot of issues, but for me its still too early to really know how well it will work without playing it first. I’ll probably buy it immediately just because there is nothing else I am really interested in playing. Hoping that all the new stuff works and that I won’t be in the same spot as when I bought Wolfenstein on release…

(Dormamu) #31

Pre-Order where i live is like the roulette , you will have the game 2days to 3 weeks after the release, so is out of the question.
Regardless of open/closed beta or a demo, y will definitely buy this game, even if y live on water and bread for the next 2 months… as a thanks for RTCW:ET m(_ _)m.

(DoubleDigit) #32

I’m glad Blizzard doesn’t think like you do.

(Nail) #33

thank you, haven’t played a Blizzard game since Warcraft 2, prefer Age of Empire series

(Sssaap) #34

Sorry, but Blizzard just needs another amount of players since they host all games on their systems. But for gameplay and not stability tests they also only use their own testers and later on only a few external testers. It’s just another deal if you test a game for gameplay issues or for stability test, and you do not need that many testers for that since there is only a handful of players on one system.
