Pre-game lobby obj servers

I often wonder if you actually try your Ideas before adding them to the updates, there is plenty of stuff that has been removed that makes me wonder that, side mission objectives, with 2 few side obj on 2 few maps is the most recent level of stupidity to be removed. Do you have an alpha face? I thought we were beta testers, do you even try it out at work etc before you add stuff? I don’t think so, if you had, you would have figured out what I did in like three seconds, namely, whats wrong with the new pre-game lobby… let me explain.

Players switching teams to play together has been a problem and your solution is a new level of stupidity and I´m not kidding or trying to be rude :wink:

First of all, you don’t see what team you are on until there is like 4 seconds left, so you have no chance to change merc depending on what side you’re on, Def/attacking. On maps like Chappel and Bridge, that’s pretty fucking important to be able to-do in order to get a balanced game. Ya I get it, to stop players from switching teams you apply a function that no one possibly could have tried and thought “this is gonna balance the game better”, by stopping players from knowing witch team they gonna play on so they can choose the right mercs… That is really gonna help the balance problem… Great Idea…

WHEN! The only thing you had to change to balance the game more was to simply lock the teams, to stop players from switching. Instead you fucked up the hole pre-game lobby and Objective server-mode even more than it was before, that is really impressive. Ya I know this kind of critic is not “constructive”, but really, no one can actually have tried this and thought this is a great idea… It doesn’t even looks good on paper. So what to-do… Well I have an idea that both look good on paper AND works in reality…

1 Lock the teams from start and don’t wait like 30 seconds to split the players up in two teams.
2 make merc switching available 15-20 seconds AFTER the map has been voted and teams has been decided, this would really add some balance to the objective mode servers… Not hiding players from knowing what team they gonna play on or stop them from changing mercs…

Have a nice day :slight_smile:

  1. remove the additional waiting time at the gamelobby after loading into the new map or massivly reduce the waiting at the end of a map.
  2. let the player exit the pre-map lobby into the game/map on its own, don’t enforce a timer on this

sometime i got the feeling if spend more time waiting then actualy playing, why?

-> load into running game
-> choose mercs (timer)
-> mercs locked (again timer)
-> get from lobby into the game, wait for next respawn (timer)
-> PLAY (or not if the map is already over)
-> map ends (calculator animations running for the 36342x time)
-> voting (timer)
-> pre-mapload waiting (timer)
-> new map loads (atm bugged and can need a few minutes)
-> back to the beginning

possible “better”:

-> load into a running game
-> choose mercs and exit the lobby with an OK button
-> wait for respawn
-> play
-> points calculated and at the same time vote for the new map is possible (remove lobby with chat at this point, isn’t need because gamechat is still visible)
-> load new map
-> back to the beginning

A lot of people leave during the first 10-15 seconds of the lobby phase, meaning that if teams were locked earlier, one team could dry up on (talented) players and you’d still have a matchmaking problem.

I support your idea to add more time to the lobby (merc selection) phase. Those intending to leave will have left already, and I feel that we needed more merc picking time anyway. Many of your other arguments…well…much of the current system is a ‘lesser of evils’, meaning there aren’t better solutions that can be implemented without a complete overhaul.

still the workflow could use a revamp. the slow responding ui isn’t a big help there either.
actualy it isn’t a complete overhaul, just merging and remove a few things.

i’m not and autodesk fan - not at all, but using scaleform would have been the better idea. (tbh, i think autodesk sucks balls when it comes to cad/etc. and their forced cloud connections)
