Power Creep, Power Seep

Okay, lovely that they brought out the second edition cards. Everyone was so hyped up about it…

For what?

All these cards exacerbated the problem of the first edition ones, and unbalanced some of the best mercs to buy a loadout card pack for.

I am seeing Sawbonez with the same healing abilities on his Crotzni and having Blishlock builds with little to nothing in the same regard. There’s two loadout cards that subvert this, but even if there was one that didn’t it would still be a pain.
Phantom has all of his melee weapons be the heavy stuff, which mind you all is the absolute worst melee weapon type to use on the class, and without the buffs that made the Katana good to use in spite of less mobility.
Phoenix, the golden image of loadout card balance, now has Crotzni builds with two healing-related augments and Hochfir builds that only have combat-related augments, severely nerfing the Hochfir, and buffing the Crotzni.

I like the fact that they given the Katana to other mercs at least. But, just on Kira.

Sigh, they really don’t have this thing down, do they? Thanks for rushing out garbage, DE.

Um…ok, even though I see no less than at least 3 viable loadouts for each merc now

loadouts looke fine to me, definitely increased the pool of viable choices

…I kind of wish they didn’t call it a katana. Probably wouldn’t be nearly as much weeaboo BS if they called it a saber.

I think that the loadouts look fine. It made it not so bad getting something that you didn’t want because it can still be good in some way. Which eases the frustration of the RNG system a little bit… Just a bit. Where I have a problem with it is that the 2nd generation of cards was like a soft reset. They come out like heroes and are not afraid to express their generosity saying “You can all keep your 1st generation cards” when in fact, all the 2nd gen cards are better than the first ones except for the one loadout that people used the most on each mercenary. Even then, there is a 2nd gen card that is way better than the best of the first gen.

I’ll take Vassili for example. M011 Shielded Sniper was the best first gen card with Spares, Bomb Squad and Focus (which I don’t even know if it works properly and if it does I don’t notice it). Instead now I can get a card that gives me Quick-Eye, Tough and Double Time. Why would I even consider my previous card?

Point is they took the best card every merc had and placed it along with the new 2ng gen cards but the thing is that card is now beaten by a better 2nd gen card. So they make all of the 1st gen cards pretty much useless. The only thing they’re good for now is trade-ups and trade-ins.

Imo… this would’ve been more fair. Just switch all the first gen cards to the new and improved second gen cards in everyone’s inventory. For example. I have a F12 Perspective Sniper loadout card in my inventory. Instead of that one, after the patch, that card would have switched to whatever second gen card they would have made to replace that one. So on and so forth with all the loadouts. I mean they admitted that their first gen cards were shit… why would we want to keep a bunch of shit?

Weapons and Cards will probably be balanced seperately, which makes sense as they’ve been doing just that for the past few months. So it makes sense to give every card decent augments overall no matter the gun combos, and hope that they then balance out the guns overall.

If you confined all the best augments to one gun class, what would happen when that gun got buffed? You’d get a must have loadout with no competition from the other two weapons.
