Potential weapons in Brink

Lol that looks sick

Indeed it does, people do some amazing things with Nerf blasters.
The ark wasn’t there 40 years ago was it lol, 40 years ago is now.
Just admit it, you got mixed up with theories and it makes no sense XD
The Ark was built around now - The game takes place in 2045. I simply stated 40 years because that is what you said. Regardless the exact time, the Ark has been around for decades. My point was that they could have had weapons shipped to the Ark from the mainland before the flood hit.

(NigelDocker) #64

I thought your point was that the weapons were got around the time the war broke out? oh but now you say your point was the weapons were shipped to the ark before the flood even hit… lol again you have mixed up your theorie and points XD just showes it doesn’t make as much sense as them actually being made on the ark, or in the future

The ark wasn’t built around now, it started to be built around now it was an experiment a ‘dream’.
it would have taken many years before it was built, hence all the futuristic buildings and just pretty much everything to do with the ark futeristic, buildings, cars, computers, screens, just general technoligy. Oh except from the guns. They’re brand new, even got little lights on them [the sights] as an attempt to make them futueristic, but they are old standard military weapons we have nowadays.

I mixed up nothing. I’ve been saying/explaining the same thing the whole time, you have just been constantly misunderstanding.

They started building the Ark 40 years ago, and even on the the main site and in the manual, it says it was built in the near future (meaning around now.) In an interview, Rahdo mentions that design began around 2002/2003

So even if it took 20 years to build, it would still only around 2020 or so, meaning the Ark still would have been without contact from the mainland for around 20 years, since the floods hit in the 2020’s, which still correlates to what I said earlier - The Ark has been without contact for decades.

(NigelDocker) #66

Ok so theyve lost contact with the world with no ships/supplies coming in,
and the modern day tech would mean the guns have little lights on the sights at an attempt to look futuristic and fit with the style of the ark, not the modern day world… it would make more sense they were made on the ark…

Ok so the weapons were shipped in from mainland? I thought they had lost contact and had no shipped supplies from the world
and again the weapons are made to try and look futuristic buy putting lights on them and making them fit the style of the ark, not the modern day world.

Ok so the weapons that last such a long time look brand new and have futuristic lights on them and tried to fit the style of the ark.
And were from when the war broke out.

Ok, so now they got shipped from the mainlan 40 years ago (2005) when the ark wasnt even built but just starting to be buit and an experiment/prototype, even though the guns dont look like 5 year old weapons but are made to try and look futuristic and fit the style of the ark

Its all just theories, and as your theory goes it contradicts itself and you could easily have another theory ver different

I want outdoor maps and Panzer and Mortar and Arty

Is it so hard to comprehend that a shipments of weapons could have arrived on the Ark before contact lost, and are being put to use now? And what are you talking about little lights on everything to look futuristic? All the weapons look like real world weapons of today - this has been discussed in other threads.

Dual wielding knives and guns, which was shown in the trailer.

No, ovcourse not, its just a theory, comprehend anything, but as theories go, yours contradicts itself. And theres other theories that could make more sense.

And although the guns are modelled on standard military guns we have today and that are in all games which is my point, guns we have today dont have little futuristic lights on the sights, the guns in the game some do as an attempt to look futuristic and look brand new and try to fit the style of the ark
.
For example the buildepin (dont no how to spell) is definatly made to look futerstic and was not made 2day (although is essentially a standard smg we havdr now), the gerund and others are modelled on weapons we have today but are attempting to look realistic with the lights on the sights an styled to fit the ark. doesnt make sense or even look like the guns are from today…

Not that it matters because the weapons have nothing to do with the story and arent meant to fit or make sense, its just what the devs chose lol, just sayin im suprized being a game thats trying to be origional, different and bring something new to fps’s they chose to use just standard military weapons we have in all other games.

Yup, theres a thread for this. Vote

We are way off topic at this point, but so long as we’re going to argue the Ark’s timeline, lets try to be accurate. I won’t say that the Brink wiki is perfect, but it’s got more credibility than, say, the rest of us. So:

[ul]
[li]“When the seas began to rise in the 2010s, the Ark became the only safe place on the planet.”
[/li][li]"…large numbers of refugees managed to find the Ark in the 2020s"
[/li][li]“The complete loss of contact between the Ark and the outside world in the 2030s did not help matters”
[/li][/ul]

And a footnote referenced by all statements above:
“[These dates are] estimated. In a quote, Ishmael describes the Ark as having lost all contact with the outside world “fifteen years ago”. In a separate quote, she states that contact was lost in 2030. Therefore, the events of Brink take place at or around the year 2045.”

So, assuming technological research didn’t just stop in the 2010s, we can assume there were some advanced tech weaponry available at least up to 2030.

One final quote especially for Bay Area Brink aficionados:
“The Ark was constructed just off the coast of San Francisco.”

How do you know that they don’t have weapon factories(or a multi purpose factory) on the ark? It would explain why the Security has new shiney guns, and why the resistance is stuck with old rusty guns.

(NigelDocker) #74

Exactly, thats a theory that makes much more sense than horse’s

Any way it doesnt really matter lol, its just what they chose not thinking too much about the story or setting (obviously)

I would like to see a plasma rifle, nothing fancy like bright laser projectiles n like in other games, but suttle n just put in the game, it would make sense, suit it a little and be and alternative to standard guns.
They are actually starting to make and experement with plasma weapons now in the real world

Alright, I just watched the Intro movie, and Ishmael definitely says it was 20 years ago that contact with the outside ended. Conflicting details, so call it 15-20 years ago.

Some are optimistic and creative idea’s, not realistic, but its ok why not imagine.
But some are very good idea’s
