That’s completely different to what we’re doing now though. Paid beta testers had to play the game for like 8 hours a day doing whatever meaningless bullshit they could think of to bug the game. Someone here previously mentioned running into walls repeatedly etc. That’s completely different from being able to play a pretty much complete/bug free game at your own leisure the way you want to do it.
Potential reward (s) for people who support this game?

That’s right. Which is why I always believed that Dirty Bomb isn’t really in beta. It’s a fully released game with working micro-transactions with “BETA” stamped on it to give room for fuck ups and use as an excuse to justify things that didn’t go as planned… etc. If anything they should reward people for sticking with them and putting up with their shit… y’know?

I will never understand that viewpoint. The game is clearly labeled in multiple places that it’s a beta. Beyond that, key features are not in the game yet and those are under constant development. Yes, you can purchase things but that doesn’t mean it’s not still in development. They have a fairly clear path that will lead to a full release with all the key features being put into the game and the game getting some polish.
You knew what the game was before you started playing and before you purchased anything. This game does not require you to purchase anything at all to play. But you have the option to because this is a business and people need to make money. Making up a new definition of what a beta is and is not just to justify anger because they aren’t working fast enough or they haven’t worked on the features you want or they’ve had a few issues isn’t very rational and boils down to being simple gamer entitlement.
They don’t owe you a thing.
@Amerika I couldn’t have said it better myself… unless I threw in some jazz hands once in a while, it’s a real point-maker! Joking aside I totally agree, people need to stop thinking this game is released when it clearly is not with all the features which were removed to be refined. Micro-transactions do not in any way signify the game is complete and anyone with the knowledge that it is beta should understand that risk when they make purchases.
We, as a community, are rewarded with constant updates and a direct line to the development team via the weekly streams, this is far more than we could ever ask for from any other company.
The reward for paying money should be the damn thing you bought.
In the game’s current state, i can understand why you’re so unsatisfied, with RNG laden crates, and some lame credit boosters.
If and when they add cosmetics, the incentive to pay will be magnified greatly.
Meanwhile it seems like this topic is total “no no” thing for many people, I’m not totally against the idea.
Like mentioned earlier, there already are several games that will reward you with few things, if you spend enough. For example APB Reloaded keeps rewarding me with different kind of weapons, even when I’m totally using my moneys for premium and opening free space for customization. When I kept buying premium for longer time, I’ve got pile of weapons collected by random rewards.
And before someone would like to say: “BUT THIS IS DB, NOT APB!!!”, I would like to say that I’m aware of it and this game never should even be APB.
However the point is that even when you keep buying something else, getting some extra is always nice.
For avoiding to get any pay2win view to this discussion, who said that the reward should be anything that is “meant for kill other players”?
It could be something like special hat, badge or other kind of small thing.
Thought don’t get me wrong: I’m totally satisfied with things I’ve got with money I spent in Dirty Bomb and I’m not going mad if reward idea will not happen. I’m totally fine with it.
So you buy swords and expect to give you BFG9000 or HMG??
(Version with cards: So you buy cases and expect super swaggy cards??

When they add cosmetics, yes. I think by that time… People will have moved on to bigger and better things. We’re having new content added each month (ie: private matches and the ability to report people). These things are supposed to be basic stuff but apparently for Dirty Bomb it’s kind of a big deal which is pretty sad considering we waited a month for that. Also with the postponing going on with every patch it’s probably more than a month. So you have that and also fine tuning patches. No additions… just nerfs here and there, buffs here and there, etc. So yeah, wasn’t satisfied with my money spent on this game. The only time I thought I had satisfaction was when Phantom came out but that didn’t work out either.
Well personally i think the pay stuff in DB is not really worthwhile, if you play alot you can unlock everything with ease without paying a cent, since you can purchase everything with ingamecash.
The only thing i purchased was a booster, which was very lackluster, and a loadoutcard for 3,50. Then i felt i don’t really need anything from the shop.
DB needs cosmetic items, alternative outfits for the characters and other goodies which are worthwhile, so the ‘heavy user’ can spend 100+ on a game.
If you want rewards for spending cash you should take a look to APB, they have credit counters which monitor all your spent cash and gives rewards when you reach a certain point. Like you could give out free elite cases for certain amount of money spent.
There are many possibilities to expand the DB shop, but right now i cannot imagine how someone could spend more than 20 dollars on the shop, everything you buy is overpriced and is basically just skipping time. Then i rather just play the game more and become better at it, instead of just unlocking shit with cash.

I didn’t know how the game was before I started playing and before I purchased anything loool. I did research “Nexon” and what I found wasn’t too pretty. Bad reputation for that company. Also Splash Damage for making Brink. Which was a complete flop. I also read that it was fine at some point but it was, unfortunately, too late?
So with all that I still gave Dirty Bomb a try and I really wasn’t dissapointed. What a great game that Dirty Bomb is. But then at some point… It just started sinking… and sinking… and sinking. Started when Phantom came out. People were complaining he was too OP and what not. Y’know, those level 1s, 2s, 3s, 4s, 5s, 6s and 7s… All those players that knew what they were talking about. Game keeps sinking nonetheless… and sinking… and sinking. Hacker problems rise… A “new” anti-cheat arrives. Now we get a groundbreaking patch adding, hold your horses, private matches and the ability to report players. Holy fucking shit… This is amazing.
Y’know what? You’re right. They don’t owe me a thing. I take that back… I don’t want something that will eventually become useless once the game dies.

I honestly can’t see how any of that applies to the conversation at hand other than it sounds like more angry justification. One merc losing an obviously cheap way to kill players has upset you. And apparently adding in key features that moves this game along towards a full release doesn’t make you happy. So you feel like SD owes you something and also gives you the right to define the game as a full release instead of the beta it is because…why?

Simply put… The game is continuing to go down. Even after fixing this so called “Phantom cheap play”. It’s not by releasing patches that add the most basic features that will bring people back or make people wanna stick around. They don’t owe players anything, that’s true. But giving away rewards like this just MIGHT give players a reason to stick around.

IIRC the lost players were because of the cheaters in the game. The new anticheat was released just recently. I don’t think the devs can regain all lost players but they can certainly draw in new players. The population will rise again.

You mean something like a fully advertised release that will be on the front page of Steam and will have the marketing power of Nexon behind it? You’re doing the same thing that other people have done…comparing DB now to DB when it was being advertised by Youtubers and Twitch streamers who have millions of followers. Which can be done again for a release or any future big releases. That’s how you keep a F2P game or any game really alive in a day and age where there is so much choice for consumers. You have to keep rolling out new stuff, you’re right. But you have to have a really solid base product to build on first. Once that is done (because this is a beta) then they can build on it and keep the game relevant.
For example, look at WoW. It has attrition like any other game and you see articles about how it bleeds players all the time. Then an expansion and new content hits and bam the numbers are back. They won’t stay but that’s not a huge issue and is expected and factored into costs.
Attrition is simply a fact of any game in-between big releases. Not expecting it or caring much about it is like expecting a game to be 100% cheat free. It would be a wonderful world but sadly it’s not reality
free fragger codes by the thousands, Alienware cases, merc giveaways in streams, 2 free Elite case weekends, those are the rewards you wanted, and you got em, quit whining
I believe that a great thing for you guys to do is to reward people who have supported your game financially with a subtle reward, perhaps in the form of obsidian ‘supporter’ loadouts.
May give others an incentive to support you a bit more as well, which can only help this game grow!!
I think the opposite is true. It would probably piss a lot of people off, giving them a sour taste and leave, or maybe even never try the game in the first place.
Tsk, tsk.
