Possible new hack, or where did all these people come from?

TLDR Version: Extreme amount of high level players weve in 700 hours never seen before who dont seem to miss a single shot. Im mainly writing this to see if any other long time players have had a similar experience lately? Last few days or so.

Me and my group of friends have been playing DB on and off for a good while, some of them were in the alpha a couple more in the closed beta including myself we have close to 700 hours or so, some less some more.Normally we can hold our own against most players even comp players. But the last few days weve been running into all these unsually high level players Im talking 70 80 and 90, that weve litterally never seen before and not just a few but like every server almost has one. Yould think if they have that many hours and play pubs which we do exclusively we wouldve at least ran into them once in the last year. Statistically as much as we play itd be pretty hard not to run into them honestly.

These players are usually sniping or using the stark (3 shot burst rifle) and theyre pulling off insane shots, like jump shots, which i heard they nerfed to make it harder now to hit, Turning around 180 degrees headshot from point black range with the bolt action sniper. Now im not saying that these kind of things aint possible. We were playing with a comp friend of ours the other day and he called out one guy who went like 76 and 3 for using what he called a Debuff hack. I dont know what that is but he explained it but i forget now, but im sure somebodys familiar with it.

I know there are very skilled players. And i also know theres players who kick my butt all the time of all levels. But after playing this game so long u can kind of tell when its legit or not and these people just dont “feel” legit. Because its a little too fast. Im just saying in my experience in the game these types of players are RARE. Not every single server and every single game. Its gotten to the point that the games not even fun. Not because i solely care about winning or losing but because these people inevitably have tag along players who like to talk trash and make the experience even more annoying. Just for the sake of being a giant tool bag. I try not to let it get to me but im only human and sometimes it bugs me.

Before this really started the other day i seen a guy who was level 80 and i was joking and told him that was a lot of hours and did he ever see the sun? lol. I meant it as joking but next thing i know some guys laying in on me about level shaming and just kept on and on. I finally after about getting into an argument with the guy just told him have a nice day and left. But it took a lot to not tell him to go Fuck himself but i know i shouldnt feed the trolls. I mean i don’t get why people take this crap so seriously its just a game. The bad thing is that most online games now have at least a few of these people and it really does over time ruin communities and makes new players not want to try the game, because people are so rude etc then the game dies out because of this slowly and thatd be a shame because this is a good game with for the most part a good community.

I dont care that much about a particular video game either way and have a bunch of other stuff online and off i could be playing. Preordered Overwatch waiting on that and also have the Division.

This is not a bitch or rant session. As i said i can take this game or leave it but i do enjoy it and i enjoy hanging out with my friends and playing, hopefully making new friends to play the game with as well. I just hate to have the experience marred by this sort of thing. But when every game is a steam roll either you’re on their team rolling players which is boring, or you’re the one getting rolled which is frustrating all because of some hack etc, then it makes it questionable if its not best to just uninstall and find a different game entirely. Maybe im just getting too old for these kinds of games, i just turned 41 on the 6th, damn im old lol.

But games are supposed to be for fun, not to be like a second job.

Anyway thanks for taking the time to read this and respond if you do. Have a nice day.

i like how in one sentence you write : ’ could barely hold my rage back’ and then the other is ’ its just a game whats the big deal’

double standard much?

Oh come on bro, even I have that. Some days I’m totally zen, other days one frustration triggers me, the next makes me blow up.

Not here to argue with anybody was just seeing if anybody else had ran into this. Have a good day.

I have seen super high levels (60 - 90) that do pretty well, but usually this becomes a higher problem if these types of people are paired together (Some of these guys are my friends!) usually it’s a stomp. Sadly you cannot escape these people, but don’t assume these high level unknown people are generally rude. Skill is skill, rudeness is rudeness.

(Szakalot) #6

@Matuno that wasnt my point. the ‘its just a game’ argument is frequently used to dismiss criticism. you troll your team and basically screw them over? ‘its just a game’ using hacks? ‘its just a game’ not balancing a 4v7 matchup? ‘its just a game’ pissing people off but not acknowledging causing it? ‘its just a game’ here we got a ‘its just a game’ and ‘its just a joke’ combo, which i found particularly funny.

kudos to op for staying on the high groubd though ; )

Yeah im definitely not a saint, i get pissed sometimes a lot. But its now how i want to be if i can help it. Try to live my life with as little negativity as possible. Even toward people i dont agree with or like. But ill be the first one to admit im not perfect by any means and it slips through sometimes. No I agree theres a lot of really good players, and im DEFINITELY not the best . What had me puzzled was you usually dont see that many of them, and even when u do they miss the occasional shot. These guys never missed. Not just on myself but the whole team made comments about it, people i didnt even know. Im 50 myself which is pretty high but it seems like the last few days theres been an extreme amount of these players that ive in my time playing never seen, even occasionally which i just thought was odd. As far as the rudeness, all of them werent rude most of them said nothing at all. Most of the rudeness came from the people riding on their coat tails so to speak. But it still when its in a constant influx of them it gets to be an issue at least for me. Who wants to play a game where ure constantly baraged with that kinda stuff over and over and over? I dont.

(Szakalot) #8

maybe you just started playing on minlvl20 servers? : P

(frankopeti) #9

Iam level 60( 650h in game 1000 on steam long qs) all my friends above my level up to 100 we play since last September and we miss a lot:) no such thing hitting all ur shots! In any fps 30 % hit considered very gud.

I haven’t witness a change lately, surely, min 20s are tougher, but I see the same regulars all the time. Are you playing on EU? OBJ/SW/EXE? Min 10/20?

I often play with Tomaze, which is level 130 or something, and I can’t tell you the amount of level shaming the dude is getting. Literally every game, there is someone like you, who thinks this is funny to pull out a “Hey dude, did you see the sun lately?” or other “Do you even have a life?” He never responds, which is the right thing to do for sure, but I can’t help myself and usually gets in an argument with the “lol. I meant it as joke” dude.

Let me tell you something, your joke is not creative, you’re the billionth person to tell him that that day, you’re just being annoying and I automatically flag you as the one having no life, cause when you have one, you don’t feel the need to make fun of people online.

You have to consider that we play free to play game.

What does that mean?
2.9Million people have played Dirty Bomb.
https://steamdb.info/app/333930/graphs/

But theres usually only between 4-5 thousand in the same moment online during peak time. This means an enourmous fluctuation.

There are hundreds of thousand players out there, in sleep mode, hibernating, waiting to come back, ready for the final assault… nah sorry.

And then SD/Nexon started this enourmously cool event (at least I was hyped at the start) with a new merc and what not. People suddenly came back… People from a pool, we usually dont drain from…
Some of these people with high skill that are looking for a big comp scene in other games.

Aimhacking in a game with virtually no functioning anti-cheat? I never would have guessed.

Level shaming? Really? What is this… Tumblr? Pretty soon we’ll have Class Shame support groups and trigger warnings on every post.

While appreciate you taking the time to answer the post and give your opinion. Id ask that if you want respect that you please give a little. Your post comes across as rude, and if you and your friend act like that toward people its no wonder they “level shame him” as you said. It sounds like with that kind of attitude he doesnt need much help creating problems.

Please stop taking yourself so seriously, i dont.

Have a nice day.

(Mrarauzz) #14

Hmm I didn’t read your whole post cuz lazy, but I have noticed new hacks…but the people that play with them are usually bad so I don’t notice they are walking. I’m sure the anti cheat will clear them out soon like last batch.

(Amerika) #15

The event has brought back a lot of people who put in a lot of hours a while back but not as many recently. Also, a lot of people who only played in pugs or MM are playing in pubs now. Also, you have to factor in that this game was targeted at a particular group of niche players who specialize in this type of game. Those guys are going to be pretty good even without a ton of hours. Also, this is a f2p game that typically has 200,000-300,000 unique players playing consistently and 3000-6000 of them online at any one time. That means you’re going to see a lot of new people pretty frequently. Have you ever seen me?

There is a giant group of friends who somewhat recently called me a cheat and even claimed to know what cheat I was using (funny enough it was me using a Stark). Since I’m an adult I talked to them and they quickly changed their minds. A week later I was doing an experiment on an alt account (seeing how fast an experienced player can go from 1-7) I ran into that same group of people who also all called me a cheat (they didn’t know who I was until I told them…i was aliaded). So your story sounds extremely familiar and there is a chance you’re making the same mistake as they did.

I appreciate you taking time to answer, Ill be the first to admit i am wrong if i am. Thats why i made this post because im genuinely curious what was going on and to get others takes on the sittuation. It just seemed like it cropped up all of a sudden. I dont know. Maybe its just unlucky or bad circumstances or maybe they genuinely were cheating. I have no clue, all i can speak to is my personal experience. I wish they had guides online to help identify when somebody is actually using a hack. Because there actually are so many hackers out there not only in this game, but in just about every multiplayer game that exists now. The second a games released its already hacked, and as somebody said this game doesnt have the best anti cheat then it tends to make people paranoid. So i’m sorry u had that run in with your friends but i hope you see where im coming from as well. Thanks again for the reply.

Btw awesome avatar, im a huge dark tower and Roland fan. I read they had the movie in the works finally.

I haven’t noticed anything suspicious the last few days. You have to be aware that sniping got a whole lot easier with the latest patch. Even I (noob sniper) can have pretty good matches with Aimee. Especially the close-range fights are now so much easier, I even use snipers in CQC sometimes.

Nice! I’ve been a Tower Junky for quite some time and have pretty much consumed everything I can about it even if I can freely admit it’s all a bit convoluted

NGS, despite a lot of skepticism at it’s launch, has been a rather amazing anti-cheat solution for DB. It’s constantly updated to try and keep people off servers and it’s been one of the most successful tier 1 anti-cheat systems I’ve seen in a game. The very nature of cheaters vs. cheating solutions means that cheating solutions are always trying to play catch-up. So you’ll still see some cheating. But if somebody is as high of a level as you’re talking about they are more likely the types I was talking about…the extremely high end of the competitive spectrum that are now pubbing a bit more frequently due to the nature of the event.

Other games tend to shield a lot of people these days because a lot of time people stick to matchmaking or a game only has a matchmaking system. So they don’t get exposed to the extremely skilled players because they will rarely ever be matched up against them. Then they get into a more open game/system like DB pubs and suddenly you start running into them and due to being shielded in other games you naturally assume they are cheating. Especially if you have a few friends around you that feel the same way. I’m not saying that’s you/your friends but this whole thing seems very familiar.

Also, the type of gameplay that is in DB allows skillful players to really shine due to the movement system and higher TTK than games like BF/CoD offer where it’s more of a, “I saw you first so I win” game which is what most modern shooters are and DB isn’t.

As a person who has won a lot of money clicking his mouse in the past over quite a few different FPS’s but is currently only a pubstar in DB I can honestly say that I’ve ran into only a couple of cheaters since NGS became the AC. And none of them were over level 7. The AC and the player reports will catch cheaters pretty quickly and I know personally just how much support likes catching cheaters. One of them is pretty famous for it on YT (I won’t name names though).

(Szakalot) #19

im with Amerika on this one, since new anticheat i have only seen a handful of hacks, and they usually ‘try’ to keep it down

(Shinjorai) #20

Yeah the ending especially made me feel like why did i bother reading all this? lol I read the first couple books through again a few times to remember what was going on, eventually i just waited for him to finish it and went back and read the whole thing all the way through. Still my favorite book series but yeah, it started reminding me a little bit of the tv show Lost toward the end there lol.
