Counter Strike for general aim practise

Free to Play: Planetside 2

Lots of people say PS2 doesn’t take any skill, don’t believe them. If you’re trying to get gud as infantry in that game, it’ll be a headshot or bust. Strafing speed with certain guns is fast so you also practise tracking the head, which is usefull for DB. And frankly, PS2 is just awesome, (and free)

But no, don’t get COD to practise aim…

But to emulate DB’s way of aiming, PS2 is a really good way to do it. Even though you will have to ADS.

this won’t improve your aim
ive spent a while playing on there (aim400kg.com/id1850/), i progressed very little while i was actually playing it. Just playing fps games for a while boosted my scores there (and my ingame aim) a lot faster than using the site did.

It’s only good for warming up and, if you’re new to pc fps games, working out your preferred grip. Also quite nice to get those top 100 scores.

Best means of staying consistent for me has been setting my desktop sens at home/work to my gaming sens. I haven’t really touched another FPS in months and only occasionally play a random PvE game. Aim games are a bit overrated imo because they rarely apply to any real world situation. I also recommend becoming a visual aimer first and a reflex aimer second, it helps to avoid becoming bound to overly specific settings and having to practice all the time, and as a result you’ll be having much less difficulty transferring your aim across different games.

Urban terror is somewhat similar style of engagement, i.e. hipfire, burst, and ADAD spam. the ttk is shorter though as headshots with most weapons 1 shot and body shots do more damage.

Flash based aim games are good warm up but won’t really improve aim. Better is to just practice in an FPS (3D environment) and train your aim there. Counter-strike has multiple aim maps you can use to improve your flick aim (workshop maps: training center, csgo aim map, aim_botz to name a few). Flick aim will get you good starts to engagements, landing those first few accurate shots (ideally on head) will win you most fights. That said, it isn’t as useful in DB as it is in a game like CS because engagements have much more movement and require you to track. For tracking I just play quake live or CPMA and use lightning gun only. Typically your mouse is much ‘quieter’ relative to flick aim and your using your movement more, but do whatever works best for you. I know some players find it easiest to track by putting a lot of pressure on their mouse–looks like shaking while they do a bunch of micro-corrections to stay on target.

check out titanfall. AW was kinda meh (imho), titanfall was a lot better than I expected. you can play it for 48h via gametime in origin, and it’s pretty cheap as well.

and ofc you can always try brink

CSGO and Quake Live is what I use. CS for the aim training maps in the workshop, the flick aim and going for headshots. Quake for the LG tracking and the flick rails.
