Possible change to throwing knives mechanic?

The throwing knives seem to do the damage to a regular left click knife stab but the fact that you throw them constantly makes it annoying when trying to execute a downed player, maybe a stab with a right click when equiped and a throw with the middle mouse button when using another weapon or throw with the left click would be more fitting?

I disagree with this. I had the same problem as you when I first got the throwing knives perk, but then I realized how much easier it is to double tap downed players from a distance. It is a great tool when you can’t get close enough to kill a downed player because there are other enemies in the same area.

When you get too close you just have to take a step back to throw it, you could call it a trade off, but really it is not bothersome at all, in fact you retain more battle awareness as opposed to when you bury your face in the ground with a regular melee.

When you have the knife equipped you can aim with RMB which is useful when you are running in to battle.

If you feel like you need a melee weapon you shouldn’t be running throwing knives, because that’s the trade off. You can’t have it both ways.

I see your point on how one could use it for a distant execution, but there’s no trade off with any other augmentation, just a benefit, I’ve never noticed that one could aim while holding the rmb, I guess I could just start practicing with it in the meantime, in that case maybe a counter similar to an ability to indicate when the knives have reloaded?
