Possible Balance Solution? Game Suggestion?

Bear with me here, this is going to be a shocker upon first read but just think about this idea for a second before ripping my head off.

My idea for balancing this game just a bit would be to tone down how much damage a headshot deals. That simple.

I’m not saying remove them or anything that drastic. But let’s be real here, If you dont go strictly for headshots, youll never get anywhere in this game. I know a “skill” or “get better” argument can be made here but again, lets be realistic, with a game this fast paced it takes a small level of skill just to keep on target while people like proxy or others are full blown running or anyone is wall jumping. Even more so when shes point blank and dancing around you. If it ever even gets to that point.

The current level of headshot damage will quickly turn away newer players because they will get blown apart within .75 seconds without ever getting a chance to really get the feel of the game/fights. This is not a good thing. We’re not looking for a very small community of players that barely keep the game alive.

Maybe im crazy. I’ve been told this before. But next time you sit down to play this…imagine just going for the all out running and gunning and not having to be SOOO focused on getting headshots. Currently every gun and playstyle is a sniper in some form or fashion.

I’d say make the damage only a 50% damage increase or something in that field, but to be honest, I dont really know what the best number would be.

This game has an amazing potential and I know that other people see this as well with how many newer players i see. But the sad truth is that most people these days are not patient enough to learn a game when the first week or two is nothing but getting your ass handed to you. The more I play the more i notice im just playing with the same people every other match or so. Not a great sign.

Please keep in mind: I’m NOT trying to remove headshots or being rewarded for being able to consistently hit them. Even with a 50% bonus the person getting the headshots will have an advantage over those that do not while at the same time not punishing the newer to mid level players.

This is a result of a closed beta, where a small pool of players increases average skill level. All those alpha testers remain, and having 2+ years of game knowledge is huge, in any game.

Once game goes release, or even open beta, you can expect this problem to be much less significant, esp. with proper matchmaking in place.

I felt that the reduced headshot damage ruined brink, amoung other things. Emptying a clip in someone’s head to kill them just isn’t fun
