Could there be some way to compile maps on a pc, that would run on xbox360 or ps3?

(Slade05) #2

Of course there is, developers do it like right now.

(Nail) #3

I’m pretty sure he means without buying a license from Sony and MS

(Dolo_420) #4

I was thinking more like a compiler plugin for the pc sdk.
I like PC gaming and modding but many of my friends use consoles.

(Nail) #5

You need a license to make anything for Xbox or PS

(Cankor) #6

hmmm, there’s some XBox developers club or something where you can make games using XNA and run them on XBox and other people (in the club) can play them. You have to pay to “join the club” so maybe that counts as having to have a license, but I don’t think it’s too big of a deal.

This is all from memory and may no longer be accurate, and probably isn’t relavent anyway as the OP seemed to be asking about maps, but if you want to make an indie game for the XBox I’m pretty sure there’s an inexpensive way.

So far as i know there’s nothing like that for PS

Technically yes, practically no because your friends willingly bought into a totally closed system designed to nickel and dime them.

Try telling your friends to buy a PC? More importantly tell them why buying a PC is a good choice for a gamer. We shouldn’t be ashamed to advocate why PC gaming is better. God knows, nobody else is doing it.

-_- Damn these consolers.

If you bought a console, then you get a CONSOLE.
If you bought a pc, then you get a PC.

Why are all these people with a console still asking these stuff?
If you want it, then buy a PC!

And because consolers keep demanding this kind of stuff, as well as all games that supposed to be for the PC, in order to cater for them, the PC stuff gets dumbed down because the console just AINT THAT GOOD.

If you have a console, deal with it.

Hey guys, ease down with the console vs. PC rants - the superiority complex is overpowering.

Dolo_420: There’s no way to add custom content to the console versions of the game.

(hideinlight) #10

You could do that with UT3 on the PS3 although there were legal issues with sounds(fixed now) and problems with configs (not fixed)

Although don’t ever expect something like that on the XBox360, Microsoft hates free DLC. Game could of been huge on the XBox360…

Sorry about my PC jihadiness, mad high street ranting never helps. Not intended to provoke just advocate a less dismissive attitude to PC gaming. Unless we tell our friends on consoles to try gaming on PCs they’ll never have reason to try. Stuff like this is a great example.

i guess that “superiority complex” only reflect [actual]platform superiority for PC, nothing more.
as well as 20x bigger market.
so nobody really care about silly devices, to advocate them.
even publishers doesn’t.
its just “consumer electronics devices”, right ?
so saying “gaming” in that context is bit “overpowering” for usual propositions/products for owners of such devices.
but as soon as they converge further[ im really can imagine coffee machines with/Wii mk3 inside it or Sony TV with PS4 inside it for example], things clarified for both sides.
but in today time, where they try to be something like “gaming workstations” while promoted differently and developed differently too… and thats completely shizophenic management[or mismanagement to be fair]appears weird at least.
