I’m sure everyone knows Aperture Science Weighted Storage Cube. If not, then obviously this is your first time on the internet, so apologise are accepted. Made for fun. You can use you it however you want, but don’t overuse it - it’s quite tris-hungry (perhaps someone would like to make low-poly version? it’s not that complicated object after all). It’s much better idea to put it in secret room instead of some porn. Made by Valve, suited for Q3 engine by IndyJones on 11th february 2010. Kudos!

btw - if u re experienced, and quite interested - then the texture has alpha for the middle line of lights. perhaps you are able to give that cube a metal shiny look and make that light glowing all the time, and perhaps cast light? green things on streets of italy are casting shadow on walls…

i just had a quick look to it - in ms3d
i saw many missing faces?!
with et-model tool i see 12xx verticles in one group - think not that this works ingame.

think its better to make a new model in the same style - will give you a better result :slight_smile:

I, reaply. Personaly do not like valve or anything related to them. :armadillochase: but what would be the use of it to be exact? All I can see is in a German science lab kind of map trying be more advanced etc.

ischbinz, faces are not missing but inverted. i tried to flip them, but it’s pain in the ass to select them in ms3d! also, how did u find wich group has too many verts? i checked every single group and the highest was like 950 according to selpolycount, but also et was saying about the same error as you…

reaply - it’s a cult item. could be quite funny thing to spot it in diffrent game! gives u feeling that everything is connected in this world :wink:

and there are holes - many :confused:

i reworked the model -
but you have to make a texture for it

… the q3 engine is a pain in the *** (in that case)
… ive got exactly this problem a few times
… verticles at model-app = no more than 1025
… verticles at W:ET = over 1025

… maybe milkshape is telling some lies xD

i have updated the file in first post. changelog:

  • the faces are no longer inverted, therefore ‘cull none’ has been removed from shader
  • default modelscale is equal to 64x64 points in radiant grid, wich makes it easy to clip and so
  • now you have 2 separate models, one with origin on the ‘floor’, and one in the middle of cube (makes it easier to rotate at ‘weird’ angles)
  • reduced verts on groups. now you can also use the md3 as misc_gamemodel.

the model itself should be legal, as i’m not touching original files, but texture… i think you can find some custom textures for cake on fpsbanana.com (at least there are for the cube).

i’m not working tonight, so i’ll look on the cake then…

you could use this as cover for a labratory sort of thing, if you’ve played portal like me youll love it
