Popular Issues With the Playerbase (also some personal issues of mine)

“I can’t win this argument so I’m just gonna bail out and bah like a common sheep about ‘new’ -placeholder-.”
Yeah nice try.

“Then I’ll tell him his way is the wrong way because only new things created within my gaming life time - the last 5 years - are any good!”
Ok.

Im just laughing at you… You just described everything about yourself…

Lemme show you what you did.
Oh, I’ve been arguing with a r-etard. I hate it when that happens.
I said old games you moron.
So , first you said games didnt gave anything,
then changed it to older,
then you changed subject into personal insults.
Then changed into an entirely new subject…

Lemme tell you what kinda person you are,

‘My logic is flawless, anybody who doesnt agree with me are bunch of idiots’ <- This is what you are…

And i no longer wish to have a conversation with you, because you cant control your language or give a proper reply to my argument…

P.S:- In ooooooold times, people didnt use cloths, does that mean we shouldnt wear cloths ?
Just because old games didnt use something doesnt mean new ones SHOULDN’T ! In your self proclaimed ‘old times’ there wasnt 8479236579230 MMO games that players could move to…

HOLY HELL! NO FREE PROXIES PLEASE!

So you lack comprehension skills too. If you can’t tell the difference between saying your way is better and myself stating a fact and asking questions as well as for evidence you probably haven’t graduated yet.

And your analogy is terrible, unless you mean to imply that every single thing we used to do in the past is worse than things we do now instead. Old isn’t always better, but sometimes it is.

You sound like a typical entitled child that grew up playing CoD and is jonesing for their next progression unlock, so I’m done. There’s no point trying to convince you there’s something else, because to you there never was. Ciao.

Many games nowdays offer somekind of login rewards, either on permament basis or during events. Just look at Nexons own Combat Arms. Another example would be M&M Duel of Champions, for each day player logs in he get increasedly beter rewards, up to 7 days. And those are just games that come to mind, im sure more can be found with ease.
Btw, i personally despise login rewards. Imo its a first step on a road to become a farmer.
In terms of “play X hours and get stuff” i can give one simple example: Neverwinter. Player can pray to gods every 15/30/45/etc minutes and get a bonus.
And Vet rewards… any reward in any game that gives something for leveling up can be be considered Vet reward. There is a lot of room for improvement in DB for that tho. A box per level is kinda lame, they could make amount of boxes gives based on level gained, divided by 10 and rounded down, with minumal of 1. So, it would be 1 till level 19, 2 for 20-29, 3 for 30-39, etc

BECAUSE …

But why? Is getting better at and experiencing the game not good enough? What more do you need?
A player over level 20 have seen everything, used everything…

Why would they play more, unless they are given something for playing more ?!
I’m level 34. I play because I enjoy the hell out of the game. I don’t use Dirty Bomb as a mindless timesink like a person does with most mobile games. Each map I play is a new experience with different things happening and that’s enough for me.

Of course I wouldn’t mind extra perks that come with leveling to offset all the crap myself and others get if we pub from people who think we’ve been playing only since open beta started as opposed to months before.
Lets see :

-Merc Skin
-Gun Skin
-Melee weapon skin
-Side arm skin
-Badge (ofcourse this would require the ability to inspect other players)
-Clothing items (PURE COSMETIC - hats, glows , shoes )

There are infinite possibilities !

Leveling up should be rewarded BUT it shouldnt be something that can change the balance of the game, aka free merc or a gun with different stats …
Please for the love of god do not turn this game into the waste of time that is TF2/CS:GO, cosmetic items are stupid and only serve to inflate epeen, infinite possibilities of epeen :stuck_out_tongue:

A meaningful reward would be far better suited as a significant level milestone instead of small piddly ones like you’re suggesting.

Offering a Merc isn’t game breaking or balance changing but if you actually bothered to read my post afterwards you would see that it was a miscommunication and was clarified.

@Ghosthree3 's argument isn’t invalid, clearly you’re incapable of understanding it. Older games doesn’t mean DB (he later clarified as well) hence why he asked for an example which you obviously didn’t and can’t provide; APB doesn’t count in terms of “older games” especially when he specified and said arena fps games of which RTCW:ET, Quake 1/2/3 (multiplayer) and Teamfortress 1/Classic would be a good place to understand what he was talking about; FYI daily log in rewards were improved upon because we didn’t have a way of making a decent amount of in-game currency to get mercs/cards in a timely manner not because they saw it as a way to reward continual play but because it was already in the game and has been since in-game credits were introduced at the same time (approx. 20th of feb).

Your entire set of arguments make you sound like a young spoilt gamer, who needs the latest & greatest combined with instant gratification to inflate your ego and or reputation with no second thought about what paved the way.

In summary: You can’t know where you’re going until you know where you’ve been, So long and thanks for all the fish

P.S. Instead of arcing up @ people who don’t share your opinion, try and understand it from their point of view.

P.P.S. I’m not here to argue but go for broke if it makes you feel good.

Come on you two. Keep it civil.

Anywho, the more incentives to keep playing helps games maintain the playerbase that isn’t too keen on playing this game after awhile. Yes, there is the group of players who will keep playing regardless, but current playerbase dynamics in games (in general) don’t allow population sustainability to happen easily nowadays.

For now, Dirty Bomb currently has missions and daily playing bonuses, but that is open for change sometime soon. I honestly don’t know.

Keeping that in mind, this shouldn’t be overdone to the point where it gets too easy to get what you want. That’ll just force dev’s to push more content quicker (not a good thing in the long run).

Just my two pesos, or maybe 3.

Having cosmetic options people might want that will also keep the devs flush with cash and the game moving forward while also keeping it from inching at all towards pay 2 win is a pretty OK thing IMO. You might not like skins but they mean nothing in regards to the gameplay itself and if it keeps the lights on then I’m all for it.

(Ghosthree3) #30

Not if they’re free rewards for leveling lol. It also discourages buying other cosmetics since you can get some cosmetics for free. If anything, this hurts their income.

Ugh, I hear ya Amerika. There’s this weird prejudice going on in pubs. I get those crappy comments all the time. Explaining how closed beta levels carried over doesn’t seem to compute with them either. It’s either that I’m the biggest no-life loser on the planet for being level 30+ or if I’m doing well then I’m told to go away and play somewhere else because I’m picking on lower level players. And God forbid that I have a bad game or get a lower k/d than someone who’s a lower level than I am, then I’m complete garbage.

It’s like fighting a man that only has one arm. If you beat him you look like a bully, if you lose to him you’ll never hear the end of it. You just can’t win.

I feel like levels are worthless anyway, especially now that we’ve had a few double xp weekends and there are those xp booster things at the store. I like chocolate in my peanut butter but I don’t really care for rpg in my fps. I wouldn’t be opposed removing levels completely.

(melancholyMural) #32

Serious question. Is there any reason to not hide levels from other players other than the fact that levels will become utterly pointless (outside balancing teams cough)?

(D'@athi) #33

Yeah, getting flamed by “lowlevels”, wanting you to leave, because you play good.

(Ghosthree3) #34

I don’t believe levels are currently used to balance, nor should they be. Time spent is not always indicative of skill.

Yeah that’s true, especially when we consider them smurfs lol. My only argument for this is cuz it’s better than nothing really.
